Social Media Challenge || Facing Against Mantaroth Lv4 in 25 Mana cap
Hi, everyone. Welcome to my post. In the Social Media Challenge, I will discuss anything about SPLINTERLANDS, it can be about cards, abilities, rulesets, battle reviews, End of Season results, or my playing experience.
In this post, I will share a situation where I had to deal with a level 4 Mantaroth by only relying on monsters with low Mana.
Mantaroth
Mantaroth is one of the promo cards you can get if you buy 100 Rebellion Packs during the Presale period (which has ended). And for now, you can only get Mantaroth by buying or renting it in third-party markets.
Mantaroth is a Legendary Neutral Card whose maximum level is 4. And with every level increase, Mantaroth will receive additional abilities. At the first level, he already has SHIELD and ARMORED STRIKE which at that time was one of the new abilities. SHIELD is certainly useful for reducing damage when receiving attacks from Melee or Ranged monsters. While ARMORED STRIKE is an ability that is only owned by monsters who have ARMOR and later the ARMOR can also be used to attack targets.
At level 2, Mantaroth gets the TRUE STRIKE ability that makes every attack never miss even if the opponent uses monsters that have abilities such as FLYING , DODGE , or BLIND .
At level 3 he gets the REPAIR ability which is useful for restoring some of the ARMOR lost due to receiving attacks from opponents. So even though he lost ARMOR, when it was his turn to attack, he could still restore some ARMOR and attack using the ARMORED STRIKE ability.
At the last level, he gets the BLAST ability that can be used to injure monsters that are near his target.
Mantaroth is a monster that has Mana above 9. Although it is strong, it can be the target of monsters that have the GIANT KILLER ability which can deal 2 times the damage if the target is a monster with Mana points over 9.
Dan kali ini aku harus bertemu dengan lawan yang menggunakan Mantaroth Level 4 di Mana cap yang terbilang masih rendah.
Battle
The ruleset for this battle is WEAK MAGIC (Attacks from magic monsters will hit ARMOR first), and ODD ONES OUT (Only monsters that have Odd Mana can be used in this ruleset)
Pelacor Bandit attacked Halfling Refugee in the first round. Musa Saline attacked the ARMOR of Mantaroth while damaging it completely. This was taken advantage of by Tide Biter to attack Mantaroth although the damage received was minimized by SHIELD ability.
Junker then repaired the ARMOR of Mantaroth and attacked Cruel Sethropod. Scavo Technomancer destroyed Mantaroth's newly repaired ARMOR again and dealt additional damage to Junker through BLAST ability. Cruel Sethropod took advantage of this by attacking Mantaroth.
Mantaroth repairs his ARMOR and uses it to attack Cruel Sethropod with the help of his ARMORED STRIKE ability. He also attacks Cruel Sethropod using his power. Mantaroth has the BLAST ability that should be able to hurt Tide Biter. But because Tide Biter has the REFLECTION SHIELD ability, it can negate the damage from BLAST
In the second round, Halfling Refugee was defeated by Pelacor Bandit. Musa Saline damaged the ARMOR of Mantaroth again and Tide Biter reduced his Health points slowly. Merdaali Guardian repairs the ARMOR of Cruel Sethropod.
Junker returned to repair Mantaroth's ARMOR and damaged the ARMOR of Cruel Sethropod. Scavo Technomancer and Cruel Sethropod team up to attack Mantaroth and deal additional damage to Junker.
Mantaroth who returned to repair his ARMOR then attacked Cruel Sethropod who had lost all of his ARMOR so he had to take considerable damage due to the attack from Mantaroth through ARMORED STRIKE as well as his Attack power.
In the third round, Pelacor Bandit attacked Junker. Musa Saline and Tide Biter wounded Mantaroth so that he now has only 1 point of Health left. Merdaali Guardian heals and repairs the ARMOR of Cruel Sethropod.
Junker repaired the ARMOR of Mantaroth and attacked Cruel Sethropod. Scavo Technomancer and Cruel Sethropod finally managed to defeat Mantaroth and deal a little extra damage to Junker who must now take the first place in place of Mantaroth.
Junker who only had a little HP was immediately defeated by Pelacor Bandit in the fourth round.
Battle Review
Actually Mantaroth could be the right choice if only the other compositions were also correct. Even though it is in the WEAK MAGIC ruleset where all magic attacks must pass through ARMOR first before hitting Health points, the opponent instead uses Grandmaster Rathe as a Summoner.
Grandmaster Rathe grants the VOID ARMOR ability to all opponent monsters. VOID ARMOR ability works the same way as the WEAK MAGIC ruleset, so it can be said that the decision to use Grandmaster Rathe in the WEAK MAGIC ruleset is a fatal mistake because in addition to the ability given is the same as one of the rulesets, choosing Grandmaster Rathe consumes more Mana.
Even if the opponent chooses to use Kelya Frendul, the attacks from Magic monsters will also still hit ARMOR first in the WEAK MAGIC ruleset.
My current formation could also be filled by Mantaroth by swapping Cruel Sethropod, Musa Saline, and Scavo Technomancer. That way Mantaroth can still get help from REPAIR ability and help from REACH monster (replacing Junker). In addition, Mantaroth is supported with healing by Merdaali Guardian who has the TANK HEAL ability.
Those are the kinds of things I discussed in this Social Media Challenge. Thank you for reading to the end and see you in other discussions in next week's Social Media Challenge.
