Battle from the Past (#09) : Target Practice Ruleset? Use MARTYR
Hello everyone, welcome to my newest segment, "BATTLE FROM THE PAST". This segment was created because when I want to make a post for another Challenge (Social media and Secret Battle Mage Challenge) I always save all the battles I win. So that when the theme is determined, I don't have to bother to do a lot of fighting again because I have saved some of them.
Since the unused battle links are piling up, I decided to create this segment to share those battles with you all. For this time, the struggle that I will be sharing is...
The ruleset in this battle is STAMPEDE (where TRAMPLE ability can be activated multiple times as long as the target is immediately defeated), TIS BUT SCRATCHES (all monsters get an additional ability CRIPPLE which is useful for reducing maximum health of target), and TARGET PRACTICE (provides an additional ability SNIPE which can only be used by magic and ranged units to attack ranged / magic / no attack units that are not in the first position).
I use Pelacor Mercenary because he has RETALIATE ability, which is useful for countering attacks from the opponent's TANK or other melee units that target him. And because of TARGET PRACTICE ruleset, Pelacor Mercenary will not be attacked by magic or ranged units until all units on my side are defeated, leaving only him.
Next, I used 2 magic units (Djinn Biljka and Doctor Blight*) that have CAMOUFLAGE ability. The goal is to prevent them from being targeted by opponent's magic and ranged units, which also get SNIPE ability from TARGET PRACTICE ruleset.
Instead, I sacrificed 2 ranged units (Venari Marksrat and Fungus Flinger) so that they could be targeted by enemy's magic and ranged units. The reason I sacrificed them is because they have MARTYR ability, which adds 1 point to all stats of nearby units when they are defeated by enemy units. I placed Venari Marksrat and Fungus Flinger between Doctor Blight so that he and Pelacor Mercenary and Djinn Biljka* take the additional loss of these 2 ranged units.
Finally, I put Mycelic Morphoid in the last position. Even though it is a melee unit that does not have target abilities, Mycelic Morphoid has THORNS ability that can deal damage to melee units that attack it.
In the first round, Pelacor Bandit defeated Mycelic Morphoid. However, he lost his ARMOR because he was hit by THORNS during the attack. Then Uraeus attacked Fungus Flinger. Diemonshark attacked Pelacor Mercenary, but was immediately countered with RETALIATE ability. Diemonshark also attempted to use RETALIATE while receiving the counterattack, but failed to hit Pelacor Mercenary.
My opponent's Pelacor Mercenary attacked my Diemon Shark. My opponent's Venari Marksrat and Doctor Blight* attacked my Venari Marksrat and gave it a poison effect. Fungus Flinger and Djinn Biljka defeated my opponent's Venari Marksrat. This resulted in increased stats for Diemonshark and Uraeus*.
My Doctor Blight attacked Diemonshark and inflicted a poison effect on it. Meanwhile, my Venari Marksrat failed to attack Diemonshark, which was already in RAGE mode.
In the second round, Diemoshark and Venari Marksrat* lost some HP due to poison effect. The losing Venari Marksrat also added 1 point to each of my Pelacor Mercenary and Doctor Blight* stats.
Diemonshark and Uraeus* failed to land their attacks on Pelacor Mercenary. Meanwhile, Pelacor Bandit defeated Fungus Flinger, causing Doctor Blight and Djinn Biljka* to gain an additional 1 point to each of their stats.
Pelacor Mercenary attacked Diemonshark, but Diemonshark failed to counter with RETALIATE. Diemonshark was defeated by my Doctor Blight. Uraeus that took its place was also instantly defeated by Djinn Blijka. Opponent's Doctor Blight attacked Pelacor Mercenary, but failed to give him poison effect.
In the third round, Pelacor Bandit attacked Pelacor Mercenary, but was immediately defeated by his counterattack with RETALIATE. Pelacor Mercenary and Doctor Blight* defeated Torrent Fiend. Enemy's Doctor Blight attacked Pelacor Mercenary and gave him a poison effect.
Djinn Biljka attacked opponent's Doctor Blight. He was only defeated in the next turn by attacks from all my units.

Review
Both teams rely on MARTYR units when facing the TARGET PRACTICE ruleset. And most units that have the MARTYR ability are Range, Magic, or No-Attack units that will usually be targeted in the TARGET PRACTICE ruleset. But this time I was luckier because I used a Magic unit that has the CAMOUFLAGE ability while the opponent did not have a unit that could reduce the impact of attacks from magic units.
Pelacor Mercenary was also quite helpful this time as he was able to thwart several attacks from Diemonshark using his FLYING ability.
That's one of the battles that I shared in Battle from the Past this time. Hopefully, you will get a little idea about the strategy after seeing this battle. Thank you for visiting and reading this post until the end. See you in the next post.
