The Architecture of Mewatu Coffe & Gallery

Hi Architecture+Design buddies...

Some day I and my friend have a craving to look around the cafe in South Jakarta area, especially at area Gandaria Street. Did you know that on Gandaria Street, there a lot of of aesthetic cafes that we should to visit once. Why I said once, it because you will waste your time if you visit one cafe twice or thrice. You should visit each cafe there.

So once I visited one of the aesthetic cafe named Mewatu: Cafe & Gallery, I came across Mewatu when I was on the way to Mineral Cafe, I saw Mewatu had aeshtehic architecture like Mineral Cafe, so others day, I visited Mewatu: Cafe & Gallery.

Mewatu Cafe & Gallery

Mewatu is the one of popular Cafe shop in Gandaria Street. If you visit Mewatu on weekends, I bet you can not sit down there because all space are full. How many people and employees hang out and doing their homework there.

When I and my friend went to Mewatu cafe shop, we finally can sit there after 30 minutes in lines. After we get the sit, we can not even sit for long because there is limit for costumers. Even though we can sit for long, I bet we can not have a cozy time because the open space of Mewatu is full of polution, sounds and weather because of smokers.

• First Floor

Mewatu Cafe shop had two floor. In the first floor, there are many outdoor space compared to indoor space. As I said before, even though they had beautiful outdoor space, I can not sit there because the weather and the pollution of smokers. Besides, outdoor space had unique arrangement. There were lots of pebbles covering the floor then several table and chair fulfil the area.

If you looking the first floor from second floor make Mewatu looks beautiful and you will not believe that is in Jakarta.

• Second Floor

The second floor of Mewatu: Coffee & Gallery has large indoor space. Even though t was large, we still had no seat because all areas are full of costumers. Some people come alone, and others with their groups.

As you can see by my pictures above, we can conclude that Mewatu Coffee & Gallery has unique building which had two floors. All building colored ivory with building concept similar with house building in Santorini, Greek. That is only there no blue roof.

This Coffee and Eatery would be photo spot who will give you more like because the vibe and ambience is artistic and aesthetic. Let us say, Instagramable.

The Gallery

As their name, Mewatu: Caffe & Gallery, there is mini gallery here. That is in first floor but you can go from second floor also. When I found the way from Second floor to Gallery, I felt like found a treasure. Actually, the gallery there in first floor.

There are stairs that connecting second floor to the mini gallery, and here the gallery looks.

• Petrified Wood

This gallery contains many beautiful natural works. One of them is Petrified Wood which has a very unique shape. The volume is so big also. This is a natural work of nature that occurred millions years ago. Each piece of petrified wood is truly unique because each piece is different from the others, or there no shape is the same among many shapes.

Besides the Petrified Wood, there are natural stones which is no less interesting and beautiful than the Petrified Wood. Those Natural Stones looks shiny and sparkling.

This stones are fit for your home displays. I like the pieces which show the Indonesia in the right photos. Looks beautiful and growing my nasionalism.

Overall, concept of Mewatu: Caffe & Gallery is unique and brilliant. People and costumers will not be bore because they provide delicious coffee and Gallery. Even though I am not a curator of art, I know that all pieces in the Gallery are precious.
