The Low-Key Architecture of Kansai International Airport, Osaka - Japan

Hello everyone...

Today I will start my journey in Japan. The first time I went to Japan was in winter, at the end of December last year. I decided to go to Japan because my brother was there. Instead of going to Tokyo, I decided to land at Kansai International Airport, Osaka. There are several reasons why I chose land in Osaka. It is because the plane ticket to Osaka is cheaper than to Tokyo. So, just Osaka.

It was almost dark when I arrived in Osaka. After passing through immigration I called my sister. She had been waiting for a long time. After hugging we went straight to the train station that is integrated with Kansai International Airport. But before that take a look at this simple Kansai Airport.

Kansai International Airport

When I arrived at Kansai Airport, I was a bit surprised because in my imagination, Kansai is a very big airport like Changi Airport in Singapore. However, Kansai Airport is not that big. From this, I concluded that Japan did not build something excessive. Kansai Airport seems to prioritize easy and fast service for passengers.

Kansai International Airport is dominated by the color brick red. That color of Kansai International Airport is not at all striking. This color reminds me of the dominant color of Soekarno Hatta Airport Terminal 2, only the color is a bit brighter. Let me name it Japanese style because Japan is famous for the low-key architecture and design of its buildings. Like what you see below, Kansai International Airport had no decoration whereas that's already Christmas but I have not seen the Christmas decorations.

Kansai Airport has 3 floors. Since I just arrived, I just walked around the arrival gate. I was tired after the trip from Jakarta, so I left straight away. This is all I can show from Kansai Airport. Overall, Kansai International Airport is very big, neat, and busy. Here you will not find visitors sitting in groups for a long time and do some annoying. Everyone walks very fast there.

I am very interested in the vending machine in Kansai. I have never seen a provider card vending machine for tourists. It will make it easier for tourists to connect to the internet, but my advice is that you have to choose the right provider. Don't be like me, after buying 1 card from the vending machine, it can't be used because it's hard to get a signal.

Kansai Airport is integrated with the train station, so it is very easy for me to go to Osaka city. It turns out that the distance between the airport and Osaka city takes about 1 hour, almost two hours. When I arrived in the city, Osaka was really dark.

  • Mosaic of Monalisa

I found the Mona Lisa mosaic at Kansai Airport Train Station. The mosaic is so big, it is next to the Mosaic of the Farmers. I don't understand why the mosaics are placed side by side, maybe there is a philosophy or just displaying them in a strategic place.

Hi, Halo, Annyeong! Welcome to my galaxy.

I have so much imagination in my head. Something that I can't achieve as a human and as a girl. So writing is very challenging. Since Junior High School, I have written whatever I want to write. Without skill, I just write what I want to read. Now I have 12th published novels and all of them are romance.
Yeah, I proudly say that I am a passionate author, traveler wannabe, and blogger.

The airport has a simple design that suits the requirements of travellers, I love the brick colour, the place looks very clean.

Hello @viviehardika. Despite the humble architecture of Kansai International Airport, its minimalistic character definitely prioritizes its spatial functions, shining with the simple nature of Japanese design principles. I admire the terracotta themed walls and related details that give the interior spaces its distinctive accents. ☺️

Hi @storiesoferne, glad to have you back. You're right, despite its simplicity, the architecture of Kansa International Airport is very much a reflection of Japan.

True, your featured airport may be simple in its architectural approach, but its operating spaces are certainly functional, providing smooth transitions for international arrivals and departures @viviehardika. ☺️
