A Movie About Sister's Love - Jigra (2024)

Hi Movie lovers...
What movie do you watch nowadays?

Even though now there are many films that will be shown on OTT, I still feel the need to watch films in the cinema. That is a moment that I often do if I want me time, I will go to the cinema to watch a film that I think is very valuable if exchanged for my money. Hahaha

At that time Alia Bhatt's film was released, you know that I am a fan of Alia Bhatt. Especially after 12 years of her career, I will watch all her films, including her latest film as the central character. It was a film called Jigra. This film was directed by Vasan Bala and starred my new favorite actor too, Vedang Rania. So my motivation to watch this film increased. There is no reason not to watch this film on the first day.

So, this is my review of Jigra.

Jigra tells the story of Sister-Brother, Satya and Ankur Anand. Since their father died by suicide, Satya promised to support and protect Ankur. Ankur who has many dreams, must be isolated in his uncle's house, where Satya works as a household assistant. Even though they live in a relative's house, they are not like relatives, they are considered workers.

One day, Kabir, Ankur's cousin and Satya go on a business trip to Hanchi Dao. Satya reluctantly allows Ankur to go. Everything goes smoothly at first, but Kabir ruins their trip by buying drugs. When the two are accidentally stopped by the local police, Kabir's drugs are discovered and both are arrested. The news reaches Kabir's father. Kabir's father sends a lawyer but the lawyer cunningly says that he can only save one person, and that person is Kabir. The lawyer asks Ankur to admit that the drugs in Kabir's pocket are his. Because he is promised that he will be released if he confesses, Ankur confesses but is sentenced to death in 3 months.

The news makes Satya desperate to follow Ankur. In Hanchi Dao she makes a plan to free her brother. There she also meets other relatives of death row inmates. Because they have the same interests, Satya and two other people work together to break into Hanchi Dao prison and escape.

What happens next, I think you should watch it because the movie Jigra is already showing on Netflix.

As a long-time Indian film lover, this film is certainly very different from commercial Indian films. This film focuses on the relationship between Satya and Ankur. About how Satya sacrifices her time, soul, and money to free her brother. She knows that Ankur is innocent but freeing Ankur honestly is not easy. Satya has gone to any lawyer, but all of them said that the death sentence that was given cannot be canceled, it can only be extended. For that, Satya began to think that she would bring Ankur home no matter what. By right or wrong.

I like the premise of this film. It is rare for an Indian film to tell a story about siblings who experience problems as serious as this. The story does seem very impossible, but that can be forgiven by the acting of Alia Bhatt and Vedang Rania. Every minute becomes more tense. The best thing in this film is when Satya and his friends execute the prison break. Satya is really very strong and unwavering. He keeps trying to save her brother even though his life is at stake.

Even though it has a setting in a prison, I didn't shudder at all. The setting is very clean and comfortable to watch while eating.

The chemistry between Satya and Ankur as sister and brother is very good. The supporting cast has important roles. It is truly a cinema that deserves 5 stars from me.

Thanks for read my sincere review. See you in next review.

Hi, Halo, Annyeong, welcome to my galaxy.

I have so much imagination in my head. Something that I can't achieve as a human and as a girl. So writing is very challenging. Since Junior High School, I have written whatever I want to write. Without skill, I just write what I want to read. Now I have 12th published novels and all of those are romance.
Yeah, I proudly say that I am a passionate author, traveler wannabe, and blogger.
