Cine Pichincha Meeting Place for yesterday's youth
Hello architecture and design community, today I share with you a design that is located in the city of Cumana, the firstborn of the American continent.
It is a cinema known as Pichincha. It is worth mentioning that many times in my tours of the city I passed by the front of this building but I never imagined that this was the facilities of a cinema which had a lot of history to tell by the inhabitants of the town.
According to information provided by a local resident, this movie theater is located in the vicinity of the Sucre state governor's office and is currently not in operation. It was a very novel movie theater for its time and had a certain prestige among the people of the region.
This cinema had very comfortable seats, the place was very spacious. It is worth mentioning that in the Pichincha's facilities at that time many candies were sold, such as cotufas, chocolate, among others.
At the main entrance of the cinema was a red carpet. It was a very crowded and well known place in Cumaná. It is worth mentioning that the blockbuster movies of the moment were shown there. It was a very visited movie theater by the people of Cumaná, although most of the movies that were shown were directed to a young audience. According to the information of a local of the city, one of the most popular and visited movies of this cinema was "La Bamba", which was attended by many young people.
The facade is white, it also has two horizontal cornices, in the middle of this there are gray slats that match the black rectangles that are on both sides of the front door, and an area covered by gray squares at the ends of the front, at the top is decorated with squares containing horizontal and vertical lines in gray and white give it a classic style, the front door is wide and there are several steps leading to the main room.
According to the information given by a resident of the city who on many occasions attended the cinema, the interior of the premises was decorated with pictures of the most famous actors and artists of the time and photographs promoting the movies.

The front shape of the cinema is quite attractive and looks similar to some old cinemas in Sri Lanka. Ornamental plants etc. in the garden add more attraction.
Yes, this was a very striking and important movie theater in the city.
How beautiful, it has an architecture like art deco. Its facade looks well preserved, maybe it will be reopened soon. Hopefully :)
Blessings, thank you very much for your visit and comment. God willing, you will be able to open your doors to the public again.
