Beam introduces a much more accessible and simpler optimism wallet using Twitter | Beam Digital Wallet

I can still remember my first cryptocurrency transactions as if it were today, and even though some time has passed since then, I don't think I had any major problems doing it. That said, I won't say that I didn't have a lot of questions because I would be lying, but the passion motivated me to learn a lot more.

Aún puedo recordar mis primeras transacciones de criptomonedas como si fuese hoy, y si bien ha pasado un tiempo desde ello, creo que no tuve mayores problemas para hacerlo. Eso sí, no diré que no tuve una gran cantidad de preguntas porque estaría mintiendo, pero la pasión me animó a conocer mucho más.

However, I know very well that there are people who find it much more difficult to understand this; it is information that you cannot learn in one day, you will learn through reading and practice.

To give you an idea, the first time I had a Bitcoin wallet with Bitcoin inside I never thought there was a blockchain to transfer those Satoshis and I had no idea what blocks are and what their functions are. This undoubtedly could generate uncertainty or doubts in those people who are not familiar with the cryptographic world; I still have a lot to learn from here on.

Para que se den una idea, la primera vez que tuve una wallet con Bitcoin dentro jamás pensé que existía una blockchain por la que se pudieran transferir esos Satoshis que tenía y mucho menos idea sobre qué son los bloques y cuáles son sus funciones. Esto indudablemente podría generar incertidumbre o dudas en aquellas personas que no estén familiarizadas con el mundo criptográfico; incluso yo aún tengo mucho por aprender de aquí en adelante.

I do not doubt at all that the developers are doing everything possible to simplify this space and thus achieve adoption and entry into this digital field. From my point of view, I consider it very well to provide the user with a better way of interaction, for example through the different dApps that can be found there, and that is the strong point of everything; the simplified access to the whole world.

Desde mi punto de vista considero que está muy bien brindar al usuario una mejor manera de interacción, por ejemplo a través de las distintas dApps que se puedan encontrar por allí, y que es el punto fuerte de todo; el acceso simplificado a todo el mundo.

In the course of learning about this world, one must learn about what a blockchain is, what the correct route is, because there are several protocols that have different gas prices (gas fee), and both can be a problem. In my case I suffered both inconveniences, on the one hand I withdrew cryptocurrencies to another network protocol and therefore I never received them, on the other hand the gas price can be excessive depending on the cryptocurrency, as is the case with Ethereum.

En el transcurso del aprendizaje sobre este mundo, uno debe aprender sobre qué es una blockchain, cuál es la ruta correcta, pues existen varios protocolos los cuales tienen diferentes precios de gas (gas fee), y que ambas cosas pueden conformar un problema. En mi caso sufrí ambos inconvenientes, por un lado retiré criptomonedas hacia otro protocolo de red y por lo tanto nunca las recibí, por el otro el precio del gas puede ser excesivo dependiendo de la criptomoneda, como lo es en el caso de Ethereum.

When we access the site we will have an Optimism address through a QR code. It is really striking how it works, because the wallet is already created when we enter Beam but it will not belong to us completely until we save the access, and that is done through Twitter using Web3Auth; necessary to create a password that keeps our funds safe. From my perspective it is a great idea that simplifies many things and improves the user experience.

Cuando accedamos al sitio dispondremos de una dirección de Optimism a través de un código QR. Es realmente llamativo cómo funciona, pues la wallet ya se crea una vez ingresamos a Beam pero no nos pertenecerá del todo hasta que no guardemos el acceso, y eso se hace a través de Twitter mediante Web3Auth; necesario para crear una contraseña que mantenga nuestros fondos a salvo. Desde mi perspectiva es una idea genial que simplifica muchas cosas y mejora la experiencia que tiene el usuario.

As a positive point, we will be able to send transactions without having to use ETH for gas (Although it seems to me that it is talking about the OP token, which travels through a second layer of Ethereum), since it will be charged in the same transaction using the currency in which we are making a transfer, for example if what we want is to send USDC, we will be charged from that same currency, which are a few cents of dollars.

Como punto a favor, podremos enviar transacciones sin tener que utilizar ETH para el gas (Aunque a mí me parece que se habla del token OP, el cuál viaja por una segunda capa de Ethereum), pues se cobrará en la misma transacción utilizando la moneda en que estemos haciendo una transferencia, por ejemplo si lo que se quiere es enviar USDC, se nos cobrará de esa misma moneda, que son unos pocos centavos de dólar.

The interesting thing is that the gas payment is actually made through two different transactions. In one of them it is about sending crypto to another wallet while in the other it is about a promise of payment to a third party, that is, a kind of advanced gas payment. To exemplify the idea I have made a graph in Jamboard that would apply to what is the payment of gas in advance.

Lo interesante es que el pago del gas en realidad se realiza de mediante dos transacciones diferentes. En una de ellas se trata del envío de crypto a otra wallet mientras que en la otra se trata de una promesa de pago a un tercero, es decir, una suerte de pago de gas por adelantado, por lo que el pagador que aceptó esa transacción debería cobrar una pequeña comisión. Para ejemplificar la idea he realizado un gráfico en Jamboard que aplicaría a lo que es el pago del gas por adelantado.

Something to say is that Beam will be available on the Coinbase Base network in August when it is officially launched. The balances that users have on both networks will be complementary and will appear as one in the Beam application. The client who makes a transaction will not see that he is interacting with two different networks but will give the impression that he does so on a single one simultaneously and on a single network.

Algo que resta decir es que Beam estará disponible en la red Base de Coinbase en Agosto cuando se lance de manera oficial. Los saldos que posean los usuarios en ambas redes se complementarán y pasarán a mostrarse como uno en la aplicación de Beam. El cliente que haga una transacción no verá que está interactuando con dos redes distintas sino que le dará la impresión que lo hace sobre una sola de forma simultánea y en una única red.

I think this could be a great innovation in which you don't have to worry about gas expenses or having an address because a QR code or a Beam link is used to make a send. Beam calls this "digital payments that work"; Well, we'll have to try it then.

Creo que esto podría ser una gran innovación en la que no debes preocuparte por los gastos en el uso de gas como tampoco en disponer de una dirección ya que se utiliza un código QR o un enlace de Beam para realizar un envío. Beam llama a esto "pagos digitales que funcionan"; pues habrá que probarlo entonces.
