My Day Trip To Bursa - Part 3: Bursa City Center And İznik (Nicea) [ENG-TUR]

Apart from my weekend activity posts, I haven't shared any travel post for a long time. Even though my activity on HIVE decreases during the summer months, I have been collecting topics to write in the autumn and winter months. Last week, I have started a travel post series consisting of three posts about my day trip to Bursa. The third and last part of my day trip to Bursa post series is about the Bursa City Center and İznik, the district of Bursa which hosts the Ancient City of Nicea. For those who don't know, Bursa is the fourth largest city in Turkey and the second largest city in the Marmara Region, located in the south of Istanbul.

Haftasonu aktivite yazılarımın dışında uzun zamandır gezi yazıları paylaşmıyordum. Her ne kadar yaz aylarında HIVE’daki aktifliğim azalsa da sonbahar ve kış ayları için yazacak konular biriktiriyorum. Geçen hafta, günübirlik gittiğim Bursa turuyla ilgili üç yazıdan oluşacak bir gezi yazısı serisine başladım. Günübirlik Bursa turu yazı serimin üçüncü ve son bölümü, Bursa merkez ve Nicea Antik Kenti içinde barındıran, Bursa’nın ilçesi İznik ile ilgilidir. Bilmeyenler için belirteyim, Bursa İstanbul’un güneyinde yer alan, Türkiye’nin en büyük dördüncü, Marmara Bölgesi’nin ise en büyük ikinci şehridir.

It was after four o'clock and we were hungry. After leaving Cumalıkızık Village, we set out towards Bursa city center to see Bursa city center and eat something. We arrived in Bursa center about 50 minutes later. After leaving the car in the parking lot, we looked for a restaurant to eat. We had started wandering around the center of Bursa after eating. To be honest, I did not expect Bursa city center to be so crowded. It was almost like Istanbul, especially its Grand Bazaar. I can say that I had difficulty with taking photos due to the crowd and the size of the historical buildings in the center.

Saat dördü geçmişti ve acıkmıştık. Cumalıkızık Köyü’nden ayrıldıktan sonra hem Bursa şehir merkezini görmek hem de bir şeyler yemek için Bursa şehir merkezine doğru yola çıktık. Yaklaşık 50 dakika sonra Bursa merkeze vardık. Arabayı otoparka bıraktıktan sonra yemek yiyecek bir yer aradık. Yemek faslını tamamladıktan sonra Bursa’nın merkezinde dolaşmaya başladık. Açıkcası ben Bursa şehir merkezinin bu kadar kalabalık olduğunu beklemiyordum. Adeta İstanbul gibiydi, özellikle Kapalı Çarşısı. Gerek kalabalık gerekse merkezde tarihi yapıların büyüklüğü nedeniyle fotoğraf çekmekte zorlandım diyebilirim.

Spending about an hour and a half in Bursa city center, we set off towards Iznik (Nicea). We wanted to see Iznik because it was on the way to Istanbul, but we had an hour's drive ahead of us and since it was past six o'clock, we would not have much time to see Iznik. I can say that I admired the route to Iznik. On way to Iznik, you go around Iznik Lake and in the part 15 km to Iznik, you come across with a very beautiful lake view. There is a view here worth stopping the car and taking photos. It was past seven o'clock when we arrived in Iznik. We could only visit the Lefke Gate of the Ancient City of Nicea. Nicea has an important place in history as the first Ecumenical Councils was held here A.D. 325 and the important decisions for the Christian religion were taken here. I hope I can visit Iznik and Nicea detailly another time.

Bursa şehir merkezinde yaklaşık bir buçuk saat geçirdikten sonra İznik’e (Nicea) doğru yola çıktık. İstanbul yolu üstünde olduğu için İznik’I görmek istedik ama önümüzde bir saatlik yol vardı ve saat altıyı geçtiği için İznik’I görecek çok vaktimiz olmayacaktı. İznik’e gidiş yoluna hayran kaldım diyebilirim. İznik’e giderken İznik Gölü’nün etrafından dolaşıyorsunuz ve İznik’e 15 km yol kala çok güzel bir göl manzarası ile karşılaşıyorsunuz. Burda arabayı durdurup resim çekmeye değer bir manzara var. İznik’e vardığımızda saat yediyi geçmişti. Nicea Antik Kenti’nin sadece Lefke Kapısı’nı gezebildik. M.S. 325 tarihinde birinci Ekumenik Konsilinin burada yapılması ve Hristiyanlık dini için önemli kararların burada alınmasndan dolayı İznik (Nicea) tarihte önemli bir yere sahiptir. Umarım başka bir zaman daha İznik ve Nicea’yı daha detaylı gezebilirim.

After drinking tea and resting in a tea garden close to the Ancient City, we set out for Istanbul around eight o'clock. Thus, I have come to the end of my day trip to Bursa post series consisting of three parts. All photographs in the post series belong to me. I hope you enjoyed reading it this far. Antik Kent’e yakın bir çay bahçesinde çau içip dinlendikten sonra saat sekiz gibi İstanbul’a doğru yola çıktık. Böylece üç bölümden oluşan günübirlik Bursa turu gezi yazısı serimin de sonuna geldim.
