The Funny Things We Did as Kids: A Trip Down Memory Lane

Childhood days are always filled with interesting experiences and lovely memories of all the fun and things we went through during that period of our lives. I personally had a wonderful childhood experience, which is usually exciting to reminisce on, and during such times there're some memories I stumbled upon, and I can't help but laugh at myself for some of those things I did back then. I mean, it just seems hard to believe, and today I'll tell you about some of them.

One of the major reasons why I love childhood ways is the way we've less worries about life situations such as finances and the like, as our parents carry the majority of the responsibility, and this gives us opportunities to delve into different things that are both normal and abnormal, and when talking about some of the things I can't believe I did as a child, I'll say I've got loads of them, and without further ado, let's delve into them.

I remember during one Christmas season I was gifted a pair of shorts, singles, and a polo that has the picture of Tupac crested on each one by my grandparents. I so much love the clothes to the point where I can't help but wear them at every given opportunity I get. As you know, when we're young, our parents usually don't want us to always wear the best or newest clothes, but because of how much I love these clothes, sometimes I even sneak into the house behind them to get them on.

And given the consistent times I wear it for years, the picture of Tupac crested on the cloth, which initially was looking forward, faded to the point where it seems as though Tupac was looking up to me, like, 'Man, when will you drop this cloth and let me breathe?" It's quite a funny experience that, as I remember, I can't help but stand in disbelief that I did that or was so into a cloth that much, probably because right now, I don't really fancy such.

Another of such things I can't believe I did as a child was that during the Eid period of each year when I was young, I'd join all my Muslim childhood friends, all putting on new clothes to show we're celebrating Eid, and we'd then move from one house to another, greeting them and as well expecting treats, food, or money from each house we visited. Most of them usually give us money, which is being referred to as 'owo odun', and at the end of the day, we all just go home excited with our pockets filled with money given to us.

Last but not least, what I can't believe I did as a child that I'll be talking about today was regarding the first time I was shocked by electricity. That very day I was playing with one of my younger siblings, and we were trying to fix a gadget that mistakenly got damaged in our hands, which is something we've been warned against, but then in our eyes we were experimenting. Well, things soon went south when I noticed my friend close to the wire was acting weirdly like he's dancing. I knew he was being shocked by electricity, but rather than calling an adult, I was afraid of what'll happen once he's rescued, so I decided I'll do it myself.

I want to drag him away from the wire, but I immediately felt a strange sensation on my own body when I touched him, and the force I went with was able to pull him away from the incident. It was a close call. I'm glad we both were okay, but it's quite ridiculous because why that happened was because we were trying to lose and repair the gadget while it was still connected to the sockets. I mean, who does that?

Well, that's about it on some of the things I did during my childhood that I find pretty hard to believe I did, and even though they were normal then, it's still kind of strange because some were clouded by our understanding at the time and the like.

So you were part of the Eid squad🤣 I had a friend like that who would follow Muslims to go for those parties and then one day they asked him to recite something in the Quran. I hope nobody caught you😂

I loved the Christmas presents and gifts and new dresses every time. I remember sometimes we would safeguard the new clothes and end up wearing the same thing for every occasion

As kids we had little or nothing to worry about, just jump from one place to another and if you have a problem tell mom and dad.
