Sibling Dynamics: The Rollercoaster of Love, Fights, and Laughter"

Siblings are one of the most adorable yet controversial set of people you'll see, one minute they're standing up for eachother against an outsider and the next minutes they're having misunderstanding that could lead to throwing of punches and exchange of horrible words between one another, siblings in my opinion are just an entire package of drama that has all aspects of entertainment you'd like, if you take out time to watch closely.

As we all know, family is a beautiful piece of our lives that brings us together, and it's from this set of people that you'll most likely get unconditional love, care, and support. Siblings, as we all know, are part of the family, and they're usually a delight to watch because of the various things they do that range from helping each other achieve a task, covering a secret, or fighting one another, and I and my siblings are a testament to that effect.

But before I share my story, I can remember that while growing up, I once witnessed two siblings in my neighborhood fight as though they were total strangers or sworn enemies, and I couldn't help but wonder what the cause of their disagreement was. So that faithful day, I was returning from school, and I saw these two siblings disgracing each other and their parents on the streets by fighting over a piece of property owned by the father.

I mean, it's just disgusting, because at first it was just trading words and punches, and before you knew it, that changed to using weapons such as a plank and knife on each other; no one dares to go near them for fear of getting stabbed in the process, and these two adults beat themselves to the point where it was hard for either to stand up properly on their feet and even have to be taken to the hospital for treatment thereafter.

But in my own case, I can remember when I was much younger, my elder brother and I were like the best pals, but we've got this issue of him wanting me to address him as brother Ope rather than just Ope; that's his name. Well, to be fair, in my tribe as a Yoruba man, respect is one of our core values, and it was the ideal thing to do for me, but for some reasons best known to me, I decided not to play by that rule and just call him by his name.

And on one of those occasions while we're outside, I think I disrespected him and his friends in public, and he got angry but did nothing, only for us to get home, and he slapped me. I was like, Why will you slap me? and he said if I asked him one more time, he'd slap me again, so I asked again, and he raised his hand with the intention of slapping me one more time, but I held his hand and wrestled him to the ground.

From there, we exchanged several punches, and when it seemed like he'd won, I summoned all the strength in me to lift him up and smash him to the ground, only for me to hear a loud cry of pain and agony. Apparently, he broke his hand when I smashed him to the ground, and that's how the fight ended. Because he was obviously in pain and I didn't know what to do, filled with regret and compassion, I quickly called for help, and he was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

It was a very funny incident because, prior to that, I'd never had any reason to fight any of my siblings. Well, our parents weren't happy with what happened that day, and I was scolded and grounded from going out for a week. Although when he came back from the hospital, things didn't go smoothly between us for some days, after some weeks we became best friends once again, and it's all love between us.

Talking about this experience, it's just funny because just this December I paid him and his family a visit, and one thing led to another that made his wife talk about that incident. I know it must have been one of those days they're talking about their past experience; he'd have told her about the incident, and we all laughed about it.

The truth is, there's no way one won't have misunderstandings as siblings; even husbands and wives have issues, not to mention twins or friends, but what matters is how we handled such situations thereafter, which would determine the next line of action for such relationships.

This is my entry for the day 6 of the #mayinleo prompt of the INLeo initiative, if you'd love to participate, you can read days about it in the announcement post.

Fighting for properties and parents recognition has to be one of the most common reasons for sibling rivalry here in Naija. But Daddy Sir, you smashed him like he is cake. Ah! Shey I will not hire you as body guard like this? Or let me just pay your bride price...loooooool

Like those guys are not serious, and I think it's high time siblings start seeing above the property like do things in love.

On the case of my brother, it's just funny, I don't have such strength again because that was the last time I fought with another, his injury frightens me.

Even at that time, when you had hurt your brother, if anyone had come to fight you(an outsider), he'd still have defended you in spite of his injuries. The amazing thing about family!

Siblings are just something else. My brothers would argue amongst themselves back at home, but once they step out and anyone else talks disrespectfully to one, the others would come. I didn't see them engage in fights, though.
I personally enjoy laughing at all of the brotherly drama.

Unconditional love is always found in the family. Sibling relationship can be funny because of switch in attitude towards one another.

You asked him again? And got slapped😅😅

Of course, we can't be so perfect that we would live without having arguments, misuderstandings and fights.

Yea that's just it, family is where the best love between humanity is shown, outside that, it's hard to come by anything of such nature.
