MY TIPS ON DEALING WITH MENTAL HEALTH
Mental health is one of the less catered for aspects of our wellbeing, and despite the huge impact it has on how we discharge our duties in various aspects, a lot of people hardly take out time to do the right thing that will keep them stable mentally. I, for one, have had some issues that affected my mental well-being, though if I've been able to overcome them, it's kind of complicated, but I'd still love to share some tips that kept me going through it all.
With each and every one of us going through one difficulty or another, challenges that revolve around job security, finance, survival, needs, pressure, and others, each of these has the capacity to affect us mentally, even though we might not show it physically. These can be mental, which is less visible and might not be discovered unless those going through it speak out or show their discharging of duties, which isn't the same as it used to be.
Personally, I've been going through some situations that are affecting my mental health, such as lack, inability to provide for all of my needs, and pressure from parents and siblings about marriage and their needs, respectively. While each of these plays out, I might wave it off in the present of others as though I'm fine, but deep within, it's obvious that I'm broken, unstable, and needed attention to now break down due to all these issues that are affecting my well-being.
Below I shared more of the few things that have been helping me overcome or subdue this effect to the minimum. It's worthy of note that it might not be a pro tip, but it's what helped me, and I hope you find one that would do the same to you as well.
- Speak to someone (expert): One of the major things that helps me subdue the effect of these mental health issues to a minimal level is when I decide to speak to someone about all I've been going through. Down the years, I've been known to not really pour out the entire content of my mind, and that made it even harder because when people assume it's something else that's wrong with me, it's somewhat hurtful, and yet I don't want to speak up, but ever since I spoke to someone I felt would understand and not judge me or nail me with that information, I've been much more free and had some form of peace within me, because the person regularly has the right words to put me in the right frame of mind.

- Try not to be alone: This is one of the hardest parts for me personally as an introvert who loves being alone, but then down the years I've devised a means of being around people online to cover the lapses of not being around them physically, and these have greatly filled my mind with much more positive thoughts, because rather than be alone and think and think about the issues, being around people can help change the narrative and fill my mind with other stuff that makes me forget my worries.
- Engaging in activities that I enjoy doing: One other way via which I subdue and maintain my good health attitudes is by indulging in activities I enjoy doing as a way of keeping me excited. For me personally, reading novels and stories helps clear my head, and I also fantasize about some good things. For others, it could be playing games, eating, or other things. Regardless of what it is, doing such things helps us maintain a good life that makes mental health issues disappear.
That's about all on some of the things I do to clear my head and subdue the various mental health issues I'm facing. I hope these help you as well. The article was written in response to Hive learners prompt; kindly read Kronia's post to get more information.

I love the tips you shared, for me when it comes to speaking out is always where there is issue because I have had quite a few bad experiences from speaking out to the wrong person I thought will understand
Yea I can relate to that, and that's why I stated it should be with a professional in the field or someone we can trust.
Don't pressure yourself so much though..... One at a time, we will all get to the cloud 9 we aspire to get.
I guess it's all about staying around people... In difficult times even if you don't want to share with anyone, it's good to be around people and just vibe
That's true, thanks
You're welcome
I know for one that talking to someone—the right person, though—goes a long way in easing out on mental stress. I have a couple of friends I "rant" to, and then they talk me through feeling better.
Yea it as to be the right person or at least someone who won't rat us out, either they've solution or not. It's still act as a relief when we speak out.
This helps me a lot. I try to engage myself in what I like doing to cool off my head.
You see the issue of speaking with someone, not many people are willing to do this and it is the reason they go ahead to commit suicide because they assumed there wouldn't be help. Yes, it's best not to be alone while in some challenges that causes our mental health to deteriorate because it is at that moment bad thoughts would creep in making you settle for things you shouldn't have done.
These are amazing tips from you.
Hmmm I understand and can relate to that, but then speaking up most times goes beyond getting a solution, sometimes when we speak up we get some form of relive.
Although we must also be mindful of who we speak to. It should be someone we trust or a professional.
Thank you for these tips. Speaking to someone is quite important. We tend to bottle up many things that people can help us to solve
Trying not to be alone could be a tricky one but it sure works. When you are alone there is no type of thought your mind does not entertain. Had a friend in a terrible situation if not for friends that was around I don't know how that would have panned out
Yea that's just it, assuming such a friend was alone it would have been something else, though being around others could have it downside sometimes, but it's still helpful.
Sometimes we get depressed because life is not giving us what we want, nice tips you have listed
Indeed, glad you see it as that.
We all go through mental stress at one point in life, glad you are able to speak to someone, it helps clear out your mind, even if they don't have solution, at least, you will feel relieved for pouring out your heart.
Yea that's absolutely correct, thanks for your input.
WOW 😲. Try not to be alone. This is actually my best way of dealing with mental health related issues. I make sure that I keep company.
Thanks for sharing.
That's good to know you also do that and that it help you.
I'm glad you pointed out to speak to an expert and not just anyone. While some of our friends and family members can be of help when we are mentally down, some can still add to our problem from the advise they give. I always resolve to the things I like doing when I have emotional issues. It ease my inner pain and I get over it on time when I open myself up to things that gives me joy and satisfaction. Nice words sir.
