Then the beggar fell asleep, and the next day, at daybreak, he was in the field looking for the common verbena and the five-leaf clover.

It took him a long time and he had to go deeper into the country, where the air is warmer and the plants always stay green. Finally, on New Year's Eve, he reappeared in Plouhinec with the face of a weasel which had found its way to the dovecote.

As he passed over the heath, he saw Bernèz busy striking with a pointed hammer against the highest of the stones.

"May God save me!" cried the sorcerer, laughing, "Do you want to dig yourself a house in this big pillar?"

“No,” said Bernèz calmly, "but as I am without work at the moment, I thought that if I traced a cross on one of the cursed stones, I would do something pleasing to God, who will reward me sooner or later."

“So you have something to ask him?” the old man observed.

“All Christians have to ask him for the salvation of their souls,” replied the young guy.

"And don’t you also have something to tell him about Rozennik?" added the beggar in a low voice.

Bernez looked at him.

"Ah! you know that," he continued, "after all, there is neither shame nor sin and if I am looking for the young girl, it is to bring her before the priest. Unfortunately, Marzinn wants a brother-in-law who can count on more achievements than I have small coins."

"And if I made you have more gold coins than Marzinn has?" said the sorcerer in a low voice.

"YOU!" cried Bernez.

"Me!"

"What will you ask me for that?"

"Nothing but a memory in your prayers."

"So there would be no need to harm my salvation?"

"All you need is courage."

“Then tell me what to do!” cried Bernèz, dropping his hammer, "when we have to expose ourselves to thirty deaths, I am ready, because I have less taste for living than for getting married."

When the beggar saw that he was so well disposed of, he told him how the next night the treasures of the moor would all be exposed, but without at the same time teaching him how to avoid the stones when they returned. The young boy believed that only boldness and promptness were needed, so he said:

"True as there are three persons in God, I will take advantage of the opportunity, old man, and I will always have a pint of my blood at your service for the warning you have just given me. Just let me finish the cross that I began to carve on this stone. When it's time, I'll go join you near the little fir wood."

I am writing translations of folk tales that I found in public domain French books, so that people who do not understand French may enjoy them too.

Now the beggar/sorcerer and Bernèz have met privately. The beggar realized that Bernèz could be the Christian soul he needed to keep the treasures he intended to get from under the stones.

So, he persuaded Bernèz to work with him to get the treasures, telling him that he did not want anything substantial in return. Bernèz is in danger.

As I have not seen a family doctor or a dentist for several years, I decided to find one of each not far from where I live.

I was sure I had seen a doctor's office that indicated that they were accepting new patients. I don't know how it is in other Canadian provinces or other countries, but here doctors and dentists may refuse to take new patients.

I went where I thought I could find this doctor, but I could not. I must have dreamed it.

Instead, I went to a dentist's office that accepts new patients and I have now an appointment in January 2024 for cleaning.

I searched online for a family doctor accepting new patients, and I saw one not far from where we live, working also in a medical clinic.

I went there this morning, but the information I found online was incorrect: no doctor there accepts new patients.

So, now I have a dentist, but no doctor. I am not really worried about my general health, but I think that at my age, being seen by a doctor at least once a year would be a good idea.

There is finally a chance for Bernez to acquire the wealth he has been after, but it's a trap, unbeknownst to him and he is in danger. The beggar is playing Bernez with the coyness of a monkey but Bernez is a devout Christian and a servant of the good Lord. I believe soon Bernez will realise it's a setup and the good Lord will help him escape the danger and the evil beggar will fall into his own trap. But then there are the treasures. Who will inherit them? I would say Bernez by the help of the good Lord who he serves as a committed Christian, and will finally get married to the woman he loves.

I'm sorry it took you this much hassle to get medical attention for your dental health, @vcelier. But health is the most important thing besides life and whatever we do to secure it is not a waste. I believe you will find a doctor accepting new patients if you search patiently and long enough. We should always place premium value on our health.

Hmmmm! The old man is really wise, after secretly listening to the donkey and the ox, he went straight to Bernèz. His conversation with Bernèz was really a lengthy one. The old man knew that Bernèz needed those treasures from their conversation. I guess that was how he found out that Bernèz might be the Christian he needed to get to the treasure.I am sure Bernèz agreed to join him in getting the treasure because he knew that he will be able to get married to the rich man's daughter with the coins. I am only shocked that the old man did not want anything in return, well, I just hope all this going from under the stones for the treasure ends well for them, especially Bernèz.

I am glad you were able to get a dentist, as for the doctor...you might just try again next time, probably next year. Having a family a family doctor good, at least we all need that doctor one that will answer our calls whenever we call for health issues.

The beggar has finally plotted a plan on how to acquire the treasure. And now he is planning on using Bernèz as the Christian he would use to get the treasure. Bernèz was also in search of wealth so he could get married to the daughter of the rich man. I just hope he won't use Bernèz to achieve his goal because I can see that Bernèz is also anxious to get rich.

It's really good to go for a general check at least once a year. I also like the fact that you were looking for a family doctor

The begger must have really been fell a deep sleep that took his time I must confess and I really understand. He must have really stressed himself so much that he went so deeper and deeper all around the country and this is well noticed but the goodnews is he finally see them actually. A lot of people must have really been awaiting his appearance in the new year and glad he didn't disappoint actually. Truly all the Christians should asked them for the salvation of their soul and it is highly needed also. I think a lot of people must have really been afraid and envy of Marzinn in that city due to his wealth status also. I must say that courage is what is needed in a lot of people life actually which is needed also. This is what courage we need for the perfection of our salvation and it is highly necessary also. This helps us to conquer fear and a lot of hindrances beyond which we can actually imagine of.

The beggar/sorcerer is a very cunny man and he has now managed to convince Bernèz to go treasure hunting with him but he didn't tell him the whole truth, it's a death trap for Bernèz but being so desperate to get riches so as to be able to marry Rozennik, he's not thinking straight. Of course he would get wealth but at what price?. We read on to know what actually happened.
Yes, you are on the right path, visiting a doctor at least once a year for a medical checkup is apt.

It's a bait and Bernèz has fallen for it because he sees it as an avenue of making riches to marry his sweetheart. The beggar is indeed a vile man and is only interested in getting the treasures for himself alone.
But Bernèz is a Christian and I think that he would escape that trap somehow and return home with the treasures at last.

Getting a doctor's appointment should be easy peasy since it's something that has to do with someone's health and general well-being. At least you've got the dentist' appointment which is still in order.

It looks as if Bernèz is in risk. Let's wish he unearths a way to keep himself safe. It is critical to don't forget that on occasion appearances can be deceiving and that we should be careful who we believe.
I hope Bernèz can find a solution and pop out of this case unscathed.

I'm sorry to hear that you had been not able to find a physician who's accepting new sufferers. You might also want to strive different close by docs' workplaces or even ask friends and circle of relatives in the event that they have any suggestions. Health is crucial, so I wish you discover a doctor you consider soon.

How unlucky is Bernèz. First he wants to marry a woman, but he doesn't have the riches to do so. Second, he is chosen as a sacrifice. Why do bad things happen to good people in these stories. But I look forward to see how his luck changes in the next parts of the stories.

If you have difficulty looking for doctors, you can maybe just take some tests to get a view of your overall health. Some blood test [FBS, HBA1c], urinalysis, fecalysis, and Xray, are some of generic ones that are helpful.

I wonder why wealth and risk always work together or hand in hand. There is no doubt that it is possible for Bernez to become rich or wealthy right now but at the same time, he is in a big mess and it is risky for him. That’s quite crazy!

It is cool that you went to see the dentist. I also saw my dentist two months ago just to take care and wash my teeth. Have an amazing day!

I couldn't read yesterday's story because of bad health, today's is also lying. He should get married and lead a good life, but we are not seeing this happening and this boy is now in trouble and his life is also in danger. And his family will have to face a lot of trouble because in this world it is the family that loves the person the most and then after that we will see that the story becomes interesting as to who the people are. The world is discovered within the same time frame they come to help.

It is a fact that the family doctor knows all about our condition and we have no problem there and we get the medicine for whatever we are suffering from and within another city. After all, when a person is sick, then there is a problem as to which doctor to go to.

Is it that there is lack of hospital in that area where you stayed or what might have happened. One of the foremost thing that should have been popular is the doctor office and that is what should be common therein also. The dentist office might have actually have a lot of patient on his desk since there is no much helping hand for him in that area of the town.It actually seems I have hear about this family clinic or it might not actually be that one I am familiar with. Hope the family doctor you find online, hope they can actually be trusted and hope they are actually reputable.
