Social Media Challenge - Fighting A Summoner That I Tend To Lose Against

image.png

Prelude
Good day to all, how are all of you doing? It's time for another episode of Social Media Challenge. In the past, when I was competing in Wild Ranked Battle, the worry has always been facing summoners such as Scarred Llama Mage or Yodin. But in modern, there is always a summoner that I do not like to face. While it may not be as overpowering as compared to the two summoners mentioned above, but the tendency of me losing when facing it is very very high. So let's get right for today's sharing.

Battle Sharing
To share with the community one summoer that really is a pain to face right now for me is Immortalis.

In case you are not sure what card I am referring to, here is the card:

This crazy card reduces health, gives the whole lineup void and shatter. Facing this is a pain as voids makes my magic attackers weakened and if they are only 1 magic attack, this ability effectively nullify the attack. Next will be shatter, I like protect alot and when facing shatter, all my armour gained from protect effectively get smashed and exposing my cards to attacks. It is so effective against both magic and non magic lineup, which is why this is a summoner that I do not want to face.

Ruleset: Fog of War, Counterspell
Mana Limit: 35

Selection Analysis
In such a ruleset, Immortalis will love it because the counterspell will not hit its lineup as long as the damage that is returned is 1 or less. A super good way to handle the ruleset. And From what I can see, my opponent loaded up an almost full magic lineup other than Acid Shooter that gives some random and an additional Fiend to fill up the spot. Opponent also prepared a healer to heal up Ulundin Overseer which will be their tank. Grimbardun Smith is also good as a secondary tank after Overseer falls as it has high health as well.

For me, because I knew it will be a problem if I use magic attackers, I had to do differently and mount up Range attackers in case I get killed before by all kinds of reflected damage. So instead of lining up with Magic which I normally do, I put up a tank in Harklaw to last as long as I can with Scavo Hireling to boost its armour when it drops, coupled with 2 of my strongest range attackers in Death Splinter namely Lira and Raa, the double ra team. Will I survive and beat my nemesis? There is only one way to find out.

So let's battle!

Round by Round Synopsis

Round 1 - Lira opened the round with a smash onto the Fiend while Raa takes out Acid Shooter and it was all barrage onto Harklaw by all the magic attackers which all did not manage to reflect damage due to Void.

Round 2 - Again the double ra combination starts attacking and cleared off Goblin Psychic while barrage continues on Harklaw till it is left with only 1 health. I am rather worried because after Harklaw, all the cards following it are all 1 health cards.

Round 3 - As predicted, cards get cleared one by one now I am left with Scavo Hireling before my range cards are being exposed.

image.png

Round 4 - Race is on, Scavo Hireling falls and Lira is exposed. So it is up to Lira to stay alive so that Raa can continue attacking.

Round 5 - Finally Raa lands the final double blow on my opponent and allowed me to get the win I need and overcome my nemesis. Victory secured!

Battle Summary
Honestly, I was not expecting to win this when my opponent's lineup is revealed and that Immortalis excels in such a ruleset because of the void. However, with a right pick of cards and Raa being on form, I managed to secure a win right at the last minute before Raa itself get exposed and become a sitting duck.

Wrap Up
I think many a times, we will face all kinds of difficult opponents and also summoners that are just so good in certain ruleset and have advantage over us. But nevertheless, do not give up as there is still a chance for you to win back and overcome your toughest opponent. Right choice of cards is still a very important part and all these is through learning and facing more and more opponents till we refine our skills and battle experience. Hope you have a greater insight of this battle sharing that I put up today.

See you next time!
