Community Engagement Challenge: Land Introduction

Prelude
Hi all, good day to all of you. It's time again for Community Engagement Challenge. The last one I did was on Scholarship Best Practice and now the topic for this week is on Land. This is not an easy topic because I myself still yet to own a piece of land myself. But nevertheless, I will still take part and do a sharing because I myself have been researching on land for a while.

Land
Ever since the emergence on the concept of metaverse, there has been a hype of owning digital property such as land in the metaverse. And in Splinterlands, we can also own a piece of the mysterious realm of Praetoria, a secret continent now available for exploration by inhabitants of the Splinterlands.

For new players you must be wondering, I am here to play a card based game, what has it got to do with land?

This is because land will be the exclusive way to produce a future set of cards called items and spells, which will be essential in your card battles. After released, players can use Items and Spells after both players have chosen their lineup and after which, players will have a fixed amount of time and mana to choose Items and Spells, similar to that of the current battle tactics.

At this moment, when will items and spells come alive is still to be determined. However what we can do is to prepare for it.

Getting A Piece of Land
I didn't get to get a piece of land early like many of the players had. So in order to obtain a piece of land, I have to look into the market.

If you aren't certain what you want to get, you can look at the plot, tract or region claims that are available within the game. Do note that a plot is an individual piece of land, a tract is 100 contiguous plots, and a region is 1,000 contiguous plots.

Otherwise, if you have a specific land type or region you are interested in, you can buy specific land plots on peakmonster website as seen below.

Exploring and Surveying
If you bought specific land plots then you can skip this, but if you gotten unexplored plots, tracts or region, this is important information for you.

Players holding onto plot, tract, or region tokens will first need to redeem those tokens for unsurveyed land deed NFTs, after that they can then convert them into surveyed land deed NFTs after going through the surveying process.

Each plot of land that was being surveyed will be one of the 14 different terrain types available. The terrain type will determine which elements of worker cards gain bonuses or penalties for executing production on that plot, it also determines the type of natural or magical resources may be present on that terrain.

Available terrains include:
Badlands, Bog, Caldera, Canyon, Desert, Forest, Hills, Jungle, Lake, Mountain, Plains, River, Swamp, Tundra

**At this moment, the different types of resources will not yet be available, so each of these types of plots will be able to produce the same resources, however Magical and Occupied plots will receive special bonuses.

Otherwise, here is what each of the land types produce.

Most land plots are natural lands, which will be able to produce one of four natural resources (grain, wood, stone, and ore) and those resources will be used to build, upgrade, and maintain all of the various buildings that can be built on that plot.

Magical lands on the other hand, produces one of six magical resources from either of the 6 Splinter. These magical resources produced will be one of two ingredients required for minting of Item and Spell cards.

Occupied plots is the last type where there are wild monsters. Players can fight these monsters and extract their Essences after defeating them, and this is the nd ingredient needed for Item and Spell cards minting.

Knowing All These, Where Do We Start?
While we are still in the early stage of land, if one wants to kickstart their land journey, the first step is to get a piece of land.

After getting your piece of land, the next thing to get is the workers staked onto the land, grab a power source and then stake DEC as fuel for the workers to start working. When all these are done, then your land will become active and start production.

For now, it is about accumulating till further development comes for land, because if we don't start accumulating now, it will be too late when further announcement of land is being announced and you will be late into the game for items and spells minting.

Wrap Up
Land had been active for quite a while. I also hope I can amass sufficient resource in cards and DEC before landing a plot of land to start my land gameplay. I think land really create a different dimension of gameplay for players especially you do have an actual property asset to produce resources and ingredients for future gameplay.
