The Rigid Belief | Investing Is Reserved For The Wealthy

Back in the days when we were very young, there have been some beliefs passed down from generations and eventually passed down to us by our parents because they believe strongly in such beliefs and also expect us to follow suit and probably pass it down to our offsprings too, there are lot of things they said to which I now see as fallacy and most times it do take some kind of exposure to uncover this beliefs, the one I really remember was based on finance, they said Investing is only reserved for the wealthy, in other words the rich should be the one investing. At some point, I actually believe this because I asked if investing is reserved for the rich, then what should the poor do?

The reply sound someone because we were meant to save whatever we work for and spend when the need arises, then how do we become rich? There are lot of things going on in my mind but I can do anything back then since I was young and still under my parent, they introduce us to different saving methods and the popular one back then was the piggy bank or saving box, they got it for us and we had to saving every penny we get that we don't feel like spending, we keep the box in a safe place with the hope of opening them some days to Christmas celebration. This is what we do continuously but what baffles me the most was the part that there is nothing like interest on it, what we save is what we got at the end of the day, I tried thrift contribution and still no result, even banking system has no benefit at that time.

At some point, based on my curiosity, I attended a finance based seminar which was organised in my school and that served as an eye opener for me, many things was discussed that day, ranging from investments to stock, mutual funds and so on, seems new but with what I heard, I started making my research on financial investments and with time I was about to acquire some knowledge that are of great use to me and this make me realised how fear and the rigid belief I had blind me from seeing the potential in investing, there is this statement I saw actually "the greatest risk is to not take any risk at all" so I start investing with what I earn and with the ones I saved.

The transformation I experience change my whole stories for good and even my parent were shocked at some points when I show them some of the result, my confidence grew and I was able to talk to them so they can realise investment isn't for the rich only, at some point they gave me some of their savings to invest for them and with time, research and different diversifications especially when the bull market came, we made lot of profits which we put to good use. Most times when I look back to those days and view it with the presence I do imagine what would have been the case if I still have such belief and have this don't try investment spirit, will my life still be at a stagnant point.

With the knowledge I had, I was able to share it around especially with people I know, my friends and brothers because I believe in building together, sharing and learning from each other experiences, the financial journey is never a path to walk alone.
