Misplaced Priorities Syndome In My Country

Currently viewing my country with this bombastic side eye look, like for real, things are really unfolding like seasonal movies, they are yet to find solution to the previous problems yet more problems are showing up, it now look as if those in power don't care at all. First it was removal of fuel subsidy which increase fuel price to like 3x before they secretly add it back just to make the price stable at the new 3x price, also increase in goods price which keep devaluing naira against dollar. We were really bothered till the Afcon match came in we had to shift a little, even if we have problems at head we need to have fun with the afcon match which they really did well until the final match, well we came second overall.

It was that same final night I learnt bag of rice is now 85k which is almost 3x the minimum wages, I couldn't laugh or cry, I had to login to instagram and check out instablog because it been a while i check the blog and boom I started seeing different heartbreaking update that really make me start fearing what the next 3-4 month will really hold for us because this signs are really bad. First I saw IMF news telling FG to phased out both electricity and fuel subsidies completely, I had to shout, of recent light aren't that stable anymore and the price per unit already increase also, is not like removing subsidy won't do any good if it is a working system with good governance but I know my country removing it completely will cause more havoc than good, we still have lot of problem at hand to deal with.

The next I saw was about the increase in Minimum wage proposal by the Nlc president, that really look like a comedy to me, even with the 33k minimum wages some companies/jobs are still paying their workers lesser that that and with the hardship happening currently, I don't think such proposal will be accepted, they even had to contemplate of accepting 200k before things get worser and now changing the request to 1million should be the joke of the year; Well, I'm actually hoping one good spirit will just touch them and they will somehow have mercy on the citizens and approve it so I can just dust my certificate where I put it (if rat haven't torn it to pieces) and start job hunting.

To just mention a few, in the pass 2-3 weeks a lot has happened and will still happen, currently most aren't enjoying, we are just trying to survive, to even step out of the house is more expensive than before, anytime I even step out, up to 2-3 guys always stylishly walk up to me just to ask anything for the boys or if they can see anything at all at all, most times I just increase my pace just to be safe because we don't know who is who, at times I will just smile and say in my mind "If they turn to money, I will even pick them up " since they don't know the economy is affecting everyone 😅 😅
