Equal Pay for Equal Work: Exploring the Arguments for and Against

Coming across this hive learner topic for the day and seeing this topic, I was like can this even be possible, come to think of it, I once give it a thought if we all could just be get the same salary or pay check, how will things be, will things be more interesting or chaotic, this has been one of the complex discussion or should I say idea that people still debate on till date. Some people really agree with the idea of having equal pay especially in my country, it is really a hidden problem or building up hidden jealousy especially when you come across people earning way above your pay and also enjoying some kind of lifestyle you can only imagine because there is no fund to sponsor such life style, this kind of people that agree to this idea always think when we all earn the same salary, we all get to be in the level, there will be fairness and all

Even though I would love to agree with it, I'm totally against it based on some major reasons especially when we use my country as a case study, having equal pay check will be really chaotic and always put the company issuing such pay check at a big disadvantage, at some point we tend to get lazy when we are too comfortable, we will stop hustling and prefer to do the most easy work as long as the salary are the same. The normal pay grade is always determined by the market forces, the skills and qualifications of each individuals, this criteria really push people out of their comfort zone to learn advance based skills and knowledge so they can earn more salaries, now imagine a scenario where you have the top based skills and educational level and you were employ in a company only for you to figure out you are earning the same salary with the company gateman, you will never be ok with such situation even if the salary is a good one.

If I happen to be in such situation, I will make sure my work is not a tedious one since at the end of the day i still get the same pay check which means the new equal system will really make workers to relent in acquiring more knowledge or skills and also the way the company system work will be greatly affected. The economic efficiency will also be affected, currently companies entices talented individual with mouth watering incentives and offer just to make them work for them because the job market is really competitive and as an individual, we always look out for the best offer and in this cases, there is no best offer anywhere, all talent, skills, knowledge will be gone or slightly reduced since there is no push or incentives coming from anywhere.

As An individual, if I am in the position to fix things just to make things free and fair, i will first of all create more awareness about educations and skill acquisition and let people know how important they are and the various ways it can boost their earnings, the main reason why some earn so little is because they lack the adequate skills or education to advance in what they do, lack of education take away lot of opportunities that illiterate can benefits from. Also when employing, i will make sure the pay is transparent enough for people to see, through this they can know where they are lacking and also buckle up to acquiring those skills or knowledge if they want to earn what other people are earning, this will really serve as a motivation to them.
