Being A Peacemaker According To The Bible Part 3

One of the major issues we face in our world today is the issue of people observing peace. In our place of work, our place of study, even in our homes, we can observe enmity and strife amongst the members involved.
People tend to embrace bitterness more than peace. A Bible scripture that made it clear is the book of John, chapter 3, verse 19, which says, “And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.”
Despite the fact that light was brought into the world, people still prefer to walk and engage in darkness rather than walk in the path of light, the reason being that their deeds are evil in the first place. God has always tried to bring about a remedy to the darkness surrounding the earth, but despite all the attempts, men always choose to walk the other way, which is darkness.
In the creation of the world, in the book of Genesis, it talked about how the world was without form and void, and also how the world was covered with darkness. And seeing the darkness, God had to command the presence of light. God is always against darkness, but on the other side, men embrace that darkness and are against light.
In the Book of Genesis, chapter 6 verse 5, it says, “And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” Men have always carried wickedness in their hearts right from the beginning.
Looking at our world today, amidst all the challenges we are experiencing, we can agree that the major problem we are battling with is the absence of peace. The battle of nations has been in existence for years and doesn't seem like it'll be ending anytime soon. Even within a nation, the citizens also fight against themselves.
The book of Isaiah chapter 5 verse 20 says, “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.”
In our world today, people tend to replace black for white, and it has been considered to be normal. God said those who are found in that area are cursed. There is no room for compromise when dealing with God.
For every behavior exhibited by a person, there is a spirit responsible for it. Ephesians 2 verse 2 explains better; it says, “In which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.”
This simply means that those who walk in bitterness and every other related trait are under the influence of a wrong spirit, which is the Devil. The Devil is always against peace in every scenario, so he gets into the hearts of men and causes havoc.
Like I said in the opening paragraph, this is an issue that is experienced even in our homes. When you go through the book of Proverbs, chapter 30, verse 11, it states, “There are those who curse their fathers and do not bless their mothers.”
Even children disregard and fail to honor their parents. Such homes have a hard time experiencing peace because there will be disunity between the parents and the children. This can make the parents—the mother especially—disstabilized mentally and emotionally.
The same chapter in Proverbs sheds more light on how hardened the hearts of men are. The passage says, “those whose teeth are swords and whose jaws are set with knives to devour the poor from the earth and the needy from among mankind.”
The truth is that as humans we are prone to be affected by certain situations, but how we react to them is where the importance lies. There's a popular saying that goes, “Two wrongs cannot make a right.” There has to be an alternate reaction towards any situation that tends to bring about misunderstanding.
And as human beings, we can't do it by ourselves except with the help of the Holy Spirit. That's why our earnest desire should be how to be led by the spirit and not the flesh, because the way of the flesh is misleading and brings about no good.
