Can death save lives?

Medical science has made a lot of advancements in the promotion and provision of health. A lot of new technologies and methods have been discovered to treat ailments and disorders. From treating basic herbs to the discovery of antibiotics, anticancers, and many high-tech machines, medical science is rapidly making useful progress. Organ transplantation is also one of the techniques through which a diseased and out-of-order organ can be replaced by a healthy organ. This technique has offered an escape from long-lasting, expensive, and active conventional ways. Orhan transplantation is a process in which a diseased organ of a person is replaced with a healthy and compatible organ. One who donates an organ is called an organ donor.

Organ donation is an act of virtue, humanity, and compassion. It helps in alleviating the grievances of the suffering portion of society. Organ transplantation provides a treatment method in which instead of treating an out-of-order organ or tissue, it doesn’t give any sign of recovery with a compatible and healthy organ donated by a living or diseased person and sometimes animal as well.
The kidney, cornea, heart, lungs, small intestine, brain, and liver are one of those organs which can be transplanted.

Organ donation culture is increasing day by day but still, the number of patients waiting for organs to be replaced is multifold. Many government and nongovernment organizations have been formed to promote the culture of organ donation. Many religions have also urged to help mankind through organ donation but still, there is much hesitance among people about it. Many think it is desecrating the human body and many are not sure about the legality of the process.

Opt-in and opt-out are the two methods for obtaining organs. Opt-in is officially giving consent for the donation of the organ while in opt-out, it is deemed that the deceased was consented. After the death of a person, it is kind and blood relations of the deceased who are to be consented to donate organs of their loved one.

Let us assume that a government issues a decree to utilize the organs of dead persons. What will be its effects?

Positive Side:

• If the government made it mandatory for everyone to donate their organs, then it would surely meet the gap between recipients and donors. Unlike the current situation, many patients will be transplanted with healthy organs.

• Another positive impact of relieving grievances. Transplantation of organs will free the patient from the pain and difficulties he is suffering from.

• If the government succeeds in introducing transparent methods for the extraction and transplantation of organs, then black market selling and smuggling of organs can also be quelled.

• The decree issued by the government with supported documents and encouraging campaigns will remove hesitance among citizens about the ethics and legality of organ donation.

• Overall standard of life will be increased because everyone will take care of his organs thinking these will be reutilised after him as well. This attribute will help in improving the overall health status of society.

• Such decree along with the transprent mechanism will help citizens better healthcare facilities because they will know that they will be provided with the required organs by the state.

Negative side:

•The worst impact such a decree will cause is illegal distribution and smuggling of organs if a properly transparent and accountable system is not introduced. The availability of orphans will be either for the powerful and elites or organs may sneak from state patronage and sell in the black market.

•Another negative side is that , after death the ogans live properly for very few time because of non availability kf oxygenated blood. Within that time , removal of organ will be a hard task. The compromised compatibility and health of organ can also aggravate the disorder situation in receiving patient.

• People may think that they do not have rights and control over their own bodies even and this will suppose them to obtain monetary benefits instead of letting their organs free of cost

Personal Opinion:

According to me organ donation is a noble act. Instead of wasting your ogans after death (which will mean nothing afterward) we must help the humanity. If someone gets life or improvement in standard of life by our organs then what can be more good than this. Yes , I believe that we must not be hesitant. We must all be ready to donate our organs after death for a useful cause. People even hesitate to donate blood. Organ donation will be a huge decisi for them so to promote it not only decree but government sponsored awareness are much needed. This must be totally on nonprofit base because the pricing of organs will attract the selling of organs in the black market and the real motive of organ donation will never be achieved. I will support such a decree.

I didn't think of this was when I was thinking of the organ donation decree. You're very correct. However, like you went on later to state, the black market might just become more popular because now health professionals will have an excess supply of organs, most of which might not be needed. Then the remaining organs would just hit the black market, or even worse, they can create a scarcity of a certain organ, to sell them for exorbitant prices on the Black Market. People will always try to find a way to exploit the system.
