Three Tune Tuesday - Drums Influences
Hi everyone.
Continuing with #threetunetuesday posts.
Today is time for Drums Influences.
Ah...Drums..My most favorite instrument, and some of drummers I played with or met are some of my most favorite people.
Owning and practicing drums on the other hand, is way more difficult than the guitar. :)
So, in my case when I was younger, I stuck to playing and practicing guitar, but as the time went by I used every opportunity whether in practice rooms or studios to play some learn some and bit by bit get more and more familiar with the instrument.
Today. Give me a month or two to get in shape and I could play with most bands.
Wonderful instrument, basic of the basics. The beat, the rhythm.
How it goes that Grace Jones song? Slave to the Rhythm?.
Something like that.
Here again there are so many fantastic Drummers across all genres that I could spend half a year just posting about them.
I will focus on Drummers who became to be more than just drummers in their bands. Who became an integral part, unmistakable character. Without whom it would be difficult to imagine those bands.
Ringo Starr (The Beatles)
The Best band had the best drummer. It is fascinating to think they played all those gigs, not being able to hear themselves from that incredible noise coming from the fans, and yet they were tight like...unbelievable.
And Ringo never missed the beat...We all know and love Ringo, I guess. As I said it often happens that Drummers are also the coolest characters in the bands too. :)
The Beatles - Get Back
Stewart Copeland (The Police) If there ever was Drummer who carried the music so much that you could play whatever you like next to it, and it would sound interesting. It is Stewart Copeland. Every single track they made has his unmistakable stamp. The Police - Message in the Bottle
John Bonham (Led Zeppelin)
What is Hendrix to the guitar, I guess John Bonham is to Drums. Synonym for Rock Drum and just like Hendrix, Bonham left us way too early, but in his rather short career, left the mark for ages to come. Led Zeppelin - Rock and Roll _____________________________I hope you enjoyed reading and listening. Best Regards.

More great choices from three of my favourite bands. The Get Back documentary was a great insight into how The Beatles ended up on that roof.
We're going to see Sting in concert in a couple of weeks. He's playing in the park across the road from my parents :)
Rock on!

Ah yes, now you're talking, three serious drummers you called out here and as you say they are often the funkiest one in their bands and often under appreciated too.
