Train Crashes Into Bus In Fatal Accident In Lagos. The Importance Of Adhering To Traffic Regulations For Safety.

Scene of the tragic accident

Accidents are tragic occurrences that often result in harm or death to those involved. There are various reasons why accidents happen, but two of the most common causes are poorly trained drivers and traffic violations by motorists. In Lagos, the state government and stakeholders in the transportation sector have invested in critical infrastructure and public orientation programmes to reduce the frequency of accidents and ensure the safe movement of people and goods across the city. However, despite these efforts, accidents continue to occur at an alarming rate.

Recently, a fatal accident occurred in the Ikeja area of Lagos. The accident involved a passenger train colliding with a high capacity bus that was fully loaded with passengers at a level crossing. The train, operated by the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC), was en route from Ijoko to Ido, while the bus belonged to the Lagos State government and was heading to the state secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja. Eyewitnesses and residents in the area quickly responded to the scene of the accident to rescue the victims.

Officials of Emergency agencies at work

Unfortunately, two people were found dead in the bus, and several others had varying degrees of injuries. Emergency agencies such as the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) soon arrived and transported the victims to the Lagos State Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) in Ikeja for treatment. A triage was employed at LASUTH to assess and sort patients according to the degree of their injuries to enable the medical staff treat the victims in oder of urgency.

In total, 102 victims were admitted to LASUTH, and the hospital and Lagos State government appealed for blood donations to assist with their treatment. Despite the efforts of medical staff, four victims eventually succumbed to their injuries. However, most of the other victims survived and were transferred to nearby hospitals for further treatment and to relieve the pressure on LASUTH. The response of Lagosians to the appeal for blood donations was commendable, and the successful treatment of the victims is a testament to the dedication of the emergency responders and medical staff involved.

An investigation into the cause of the accident revealed that the driver of the Lagos State government bus ignored traffic signals given to motorists at the level crossing, attempting to drive past it as the train approached. His failure to adhere to traffic regulations led to the accident. The driver was subsequently arrested by the police.

This tragic event highlights the importance of traffic regulations and the consequences of failing to adhere to them. Many Lagosians have recommended the adequate training of motorists, especially those involved in public transport, and the installation of barricades at various level crossing across the city to prevent accidents like the one that occurred in Ikeja from happening again in the future.

The response of the Lagos State government and Lagosians in the aftermath of the accident is commendable. Everyone involved made meaningful contributions to save the lives of the victims. The loss of lives during the accident is regrettable, and I pray for the repose of their souls.

Thanks for reading,
See you on the next one guys.

I read about the accident but your article just detailed it. Our drivers need to importance of traffic regulations because the lives of everyone in the bus is in the way they drive safely.

Thank goodness the government agencies were able to do something about it.

This made me laugh 🤣

Fun aside, looks like marky is countering the votes of xeldal. The real question is why xeldal voting you, if you wanna ask why marky is downvoting you.

I don't think so it's anything personal related to you. It's just how hive works. :)

Remembered, newsflash countering curangle, bdvoter, appreciator?

Life happens. Smile and don't take things too seriously. Any pending rewards are not yours and decentralized consensus of upvotes and downvotes can decide the final payout of post.

Hey man, how are you? This is not funny to me because there's what I call "the author's feeling" - creating content requires work. Sometimes I spend two to three days creating some the content you see on my blog space.

After writing what comes to my mind in my notebook, I pick up my mobile phone and type it out, after that, I proofread to filter out typos, add images when necessary and publish. This is hard work man. I don't know what's bad if someone is using his or her stake to spread reward even at low percentage. It's not like I post consistently, I just do when I have the time. Also it's not like the curators get 100% of all the rewards. I am just upset that all that hardwork in creating my post is all for nothing if someone is just trampling on the better part of it.

I am sure you have been there before. You create a content, it gets rewarded, you check back later, see the reward and feel elated that the post got some recognition through the reward pool.

Man these downvotes has pushed me to what I call frustration and is getting the better part of me.

If he has an issue with that guy, he should take the battle to his account and not make others suffer while handling it.

Don't get attached to the rewards in 7 days window. After that, it's all yours. Please, try to understand how the system works to adjust accordingly.

This is not funny to me

I do understand COMMAND is used by some Christians when praying especially in your region Nigeria. Did you realize it's another meaning? It's really funny cause you are commanding someone to stop something which is allowed by the CODE. All HP holders are like shareholders of a company and they can decide the new printing of shares. This is how the system works. Another thing I found funny was COMMAND is used for commanding to devil thus although you were calling in a different way, it turned out to be you are calling the person a devil while you only wanted to say evil eye or something similar. This cultural use of words made the screenshot funny cause others saw it differently as I explained.
