Abuse of technology can be dangerous.
There was a time in which the human being only knew natural things, understanding by these those that exist without human intervention, perhaps like the program "mountain men" of the h2 channel, thanks to that harmony with nature people enjoyed robustness and great health even in his old age.
But we are curious innovators who love comfort (I say this mainly because I am a specialist in automating things, which is equivalent to making work easier for humans).
So we have left the mountains for cities and we have become "civilized", maybe we cut down some trees in the process and throw some harmful material into the environment but comfort has a price, after all we really like our technological devices, right?
I do not intend to blame anyone, after all it seems to be an irreversible evil that we gladly enjoy, but I do not want to focus my article on the use of technology that makes our day to day easier, nor on technology to which we do not have access as things atomic or of the same nature.
I want to focus on technology that we all use I dare say on a daily basis, demonstrate how the excessive use of this technology can harm us individually and collectively and can even change how things would be in the future. I mean "Virtual Life".
In my own definition, virtual life is all that time that we are in front of a device that, according to its technology, presents us with a door (Games, social networks, TV, movies, similar things) to enter a non-physical world in which we can experience different emotions and even for that time become unaware of our physical world.
As I think, the activities that are carried out using a device with the purpose of fulfilling a "work" whose purpose affects the real world do not fall into the previous definition, an example of this would be graphic design, writing documents, or things that do not affect our emotions while we do them.
It is not that this is bad, I think that nothing is good or bad in itself but that we, depending on the use we give it, make them convenient or not convenient, in this case I do not think it is bad to investigate a little in a virtual world, after all here we are. But I think most things when overused can produce bad results, let's look at some of these bad results.
Detrimental effects
It seems that the tendency to lead virtual lives is increasing, especially the new generations that spend more time immersed in these environments than they even enjoy the natural environment and physical interaction with the environment and other people.
disinterest in nature
For many, a room that has a device with internet access seems to be enough to live a pleasant life, ah! except when they remember that they have a body that needs food, water and a bath. In this way they lose interest and love for the environment, clean air, physical activity and other things that are very necessary for health.
Going for a walk, running or even just sitting and observing in a natural environment gives us a pleasant feeling and reminds us how much we need a pleasant environment in order to have health and a pleasant life.
Many young people and even children spend so much time "locked up" that they forget about the benefits that nature provides. If they lose this love, who will take care of the environment in the future? Perhaps the big industries can destroy nature in the future without no one cares, that's wrong.
disconnected social life
When people have made their "virtual life" more valuable than their real life, they begin to value people on other devices more than their own relatives and close friends. They choose to be online rather than leave their device to spend time with people close to them who love them.
When you exaggerate the use of your social networks or virtual environments, it is likely that you make "friends" who have the same habit as you, which makes it even more difficult for you to GO OUT with friends to share somewhere at some point.
When you leave your online life even for a moment and decide to go out into an environment where there are more people, there is a high chance that you will end up meeting other people and making new friends.
Visual fatigue and loss of sleep
When people are immersed in a display of devices they usually concentrate on what they are looking at and this causes them to blink less, decreasing the frequency with which we blink causes dry eyes and may not be noticeable more than a little at first. burning or tiredness but in the long term it can be harmful to the eyesight.
The screens of these devices radiate blue light, it is not that blue light itself is harmful (at least it is not scientifically proven) but a very prolonged exposure to it ends up damaging our vision and not only this, we are programmed to respond to this particular type of light with sleep loss, it's the same type of light the sun emits to tell us it's time to wake up.
So when people spend a lot of time exposed to this light, especially in hours close to bedtime, it can happen that they later have trouble falling asleep.
Do not run to vote your devices, I am not saying that it is bad to use them, what I am saying is that it is bad that by using them you forget about your real world and not only you, if you have children it is necessary to ensure a good education for them in this issue because they are the future.
