DOERS CHANGE THE WORLD, NOT TALKER: My telltale
People want change, for the better but are never ready to put in the work to effect that change.
I was on a bus heading towards Oshodi from Agric Busstop in lagos. There were a lot of passenger on the bus, some standing while the majority was seating. I was standing. When we got to Ketu, we encountered traffic, and had to move very slowly as a Danfo (A van popular in Lagos) had broken down, and had to be pushed by the driver and conductor of the Danfo. There were no nearby spot for the Danfo to park in, and no alternative route for us to pass through other than to follow behind at a snail rate.
Several of the passengers began to grumble and complain, but none of them offered to step off the bus and help push the Danfo faster. Even I was content to wait, but at least i did not complain. The driver of our bus then told his conductor to alight and help push the bus faster, as to make way for us. Despite that attempt, a woman in our bus still had the effrontery to feel entitled to complain that our bus conductor was not doing enough in pushing the bus, meanwhile she was in our bus, her comfort zone never offering to help or anything but still criticizing those who made even the most minimal effort to change the situation.
At that moment, I remember a popular song of the juju genre sang by a veteran nigerian artiste, that said no matter what you do, even if you give the world, you can never please the entire world.
The woman is like a lot of us, we see what we want, what needs to be but we'll rather talk and give suggestions, than actually doing the work.
TALKERS, NOT DOERS.
Yeah, people can talk and give suggestions, but it is those who do the work that gets all the glory at the end of the day. Talking is never enough. A Ted X speaker can never get a Nobel laureate, only a doer can because at the end of the day, talk without action is of no use and has no substance.
