Baba Ijesha vs Princess: The nigerian smelly take

Good morning, today is a good day to get your PVC.

Meanwhile, I heard a statement from someone yesterday and I was very angry and disappointed at the statement, because it has become a way of life for Nigerians to circumvent the rule of law. The statement was "shey won rin si ni?" . The statement was made in Yoruba and it directly translates to "Could they not manipulate/use their connection on the situation? (to make it fade away)" That has been the go-to statement for a lot of Nigerians when the hand of law finally slaps them wotowoto in the face. That statement speaks of the decay is our judiciary system, as well as in our country, Nigeria.

Okay, let me reverse a little bit on the genesis of the statement. Princess, a nigerian actress accused Baba Ijebu, a veteran Nigerian yoruba actor of molesting her daughter, who is a minor (that is under 18). The act was caught on camera, and generated a load of controversy on the nigerian media airspace. My anger began when some Nigerians started making suggestions that they should settle out of court, that the pedophile is sorry and won't do such again.

First, why do you not want him to face the judiciary system? Is it because he is a veteran, or because he is a man? I was deeply incensed. Why? Because these people are being biased, and would definitely not back down if it were their daughter or female relative in the same situation. People issue advice they would take.

The case dragged on and eventually, he was sentenced to 5 years in prison.

That is the reason why most rape victims in Nigeria do not come out, because they would be vilified and make to look guilty. Talmbout it is because of the way she is dressed. I am happy that princess stood her ground and eventually sent the man away to his rightful abode, incarceration. The Nigerian justice culture needs rehabilitation, cuz it is a mess.

I am happy the man is in Jail, and would serve as a deterrence to those who feels that arm of the law can be bent to favour them. Some other day, I would write a piece on the typical nigerian when it comes to police issue. For now, let's stop interfering with police work and let justice do it work.

A better Nigerian is all we seek for. A Peter Obi Nigerian. Please and please, get your Voter's card. I have mine, do you have yours?
