Steemmonsters to Splinterlands Nostalgia (tsnaks special)
Hey, so I was quite bored and decided to go through my old posts and I got quite nostalgic seeing the old screenshots from Splinterlands (Or Steemmonsters at the time) so I thought that I should share some of my finds to show what Splinterlands used to look like in the past and maybe some of the other OG's who see this get the same nostalgia feeling as I did.
Sadly I couldn't find any posts that I made in the Alpha times, the first one I found was of the Beta release.
I will be going from oldest to newest posts that I found on my blog and from each post that I include I will give a small description + 1 screenshot.
(I also left out a lot of posts and only showed the ones I thought were interesting in any way).
Let's begin
Sep 18, 2018
I just made a post telling people to get packs for 2$ that includes 5 monsters
and then I included a screenshot of the market.

Steemmonsters released the affiliate system allowing 5% earning on the people you invited to the game through your link whenever they bought packs.
And then I inlucded what was the Logo for the game at the time as the only picture in the post.
My affiliate link used to look like this
https://steemmonsters.com/?ref=tsnaks
And this is how it looks nowadays
https://splinterlands.com?ref=tsnaks

The same day the affiliate system was released, I decided to do a Giveaway to promote my affiliate link and hopefully get people to use it :D
But look at that card, isn't that just beautiful ? The Alpha cards look so amazing to me and that FONT they used to write the monsters name, they need to bring that back in some form.

I went on a losing streak and made this kinda funny post.
That's how the battle log used to look like.
Nov 4, 2018
The battle end screen used to offer us a chance to instantly battle again.
Nov 26, 2018
I didn't write in the post what the update was about, but that's the earliest screenshot I have in my blog of the whole interface of the website battle screen.
It must have been some big update, because if you notice I went from 3300 trophies to 46 trophies somehow.
Also there were daily quests rather than focus points to earn rewards. The quests were always to just win 5 battles with a certain splinter, and this screenshot is so early that there wasn't even an option to refresh your daily quest.
And at that time rewards always gave Beta packs.

That's when tournaments were introduced into the game.
I must say that the tournament page hasn't changed too much visually over the years xD
But the Awarded number definitely has.

The tournament battle phase from 2019, tbh I don't know if it has changed or not since I haven't played tournaments for a long time.
Mar 17, 2019
Sadly I don't own most of those cards anymore.
But that's how our simple and easy to use collection page looked like.
Mar 18, 2019
I'm guessing this is around the time we got the card delegation feature.
Mar 21, 2019
A bit of Peakmonsters nostalgia as well :)
Apr 24, 2019
That's from the era where rewards were always Rewards Cards, not packs and no sps or potions, just 100% cards.

This hurts a little bit to look back on, but at the time it was not a bad move.
We are already moving to more familiar looking screenshots, but this is still 2019. If you didn't notice yet, there is no SPS next to DEC.

The Mana well looks the same, but the placement of the packs is different and the potions look different.
Also we were shown exactly how many % the potions helped us.
Jun 9, 2019
The battle end screen, from the times we got DEC for every battle won.
The first battle phase of choosing your monsters

This is more from Peakmonsters nostalgia.
Before we had official card renting system from Splinterlands itself, Peakmonsters gave us a 3rd party option to rent our cards between each other.
Remember, we had Delegating but no Card renting from Splinterlands.

For a long period of time, this is how the collection page looked like.
This has been my nostaliga run from Steemmonsters to Splinterlands.
Thank you all for reaching this far of my post and I hope you enjoyed looking back at how our favorite Web3 game has evolved.
I will leave you all with this amazing Beta pack from Jun 26, 2019 that will grant you luck on your next pack opening!
Thank you :)
wow, you brought so many wonderful moments back.
Great, that's what I was going for :D
Awesome idea for a post series.
I'm liking all the call backs.
