Sweet sweet silver!

I have been quite modest with my silver purchases the past couples months. The main reason has been that local sellers have been asking stupid high prices.

Still, when I see a good deal I try to snatch it! As is the case with my latest order, almost at spot, that arrived today!

Ok, let's see what we got this time!

4 little coins, wrapped in lots of paper and sticky paper! Let's clean that shit up!

Neato!

Let's take a closer look to these shiny little fellas.

First we have...

10 centavos (1944) from the Dominican republic. A really beautiful piece if you ask me and a first for my collection. Purity is also pretty good, 2.5 g at 0.900. Nice!

Moving on...

A cute little fish! Great, since I love animal themed coins! I already own one of these commemorative Canadian 10 cents featuring a mackerel thanks to @bitcoinman my amazing 2023 #silvergoldstackers secret Santa who I have no idea who the fuck is. Still, awesome to have a spare one! Purity is again quite decent, 2.33 g of 0.800.

The final two pieces come from the land of kangaroos and platypuses!

First a six pence minted in 1943

Look at that freakish chicken! What the fuck are they feeding them?!?!

I already have this coin in my collection btw, but this one is in much better condition.

Purity is excellent for a standard circulation coin. 2.83 g of 0.925 silver. Perfecto!

And finally, a 3 pence from the same year!

received_1341142866444655.jpeg

received_180230481411122.jpeg

Another first one for the stack 🎉

And once again an excellent purity of 0.925 with a total weight of 1.41 g.

Ok, hope you enjoyed this silver unboxing! I'll be soon making a post for the 10 centavos and 3 pence since I have never featured them before.

Stack on!

Nice scores. I really like the Pence coinage. That’s not a chicken it’s an Ostrich or Emu…🤣🤣🤣

Oh! you forget the Australian hybrid wheat plants on the observe, that only used for meals, but if you sow them I bet the land will sure get barren. 🤪

The collection is pretty dope, that mackerel looks in competition with the hag queen. 😄

Haha the first one looking little bit funny but all the coins have their own value. I liked that coin the most with the fish patterned on it (Canadian 10 cents).

Great, congratulations on the magnificent silver pieces you just purchased. As can be seen from the photos, they are in very good overall condition, and given the price of silver, I think you got them at a very good price.

I also buy pieces of silver whenever I can. Maybe one day I'll also be encouraged to write about it.

Post-data: I would like to get a silver or gold coin from the time of the Roman Empire (that is my dream, what can I say), although I know that such a piece would surely cost me a lot of money.

Do you ever think about polishing your coins up? Are there coins available that are made with metals different than silver or gold? Have you purchased any gold coins?

Thanks for sharing your post.

Supposedly, polishing makes em less valuable but it's not like I care much.

Are there coins available that are made with metals different than silver or gold?

You mean that I collect? Then no. But generally yeah, coins have been made from all kinds of metal, even aluminum

Have you purchased any gold coins?

I was lucky enough to inherit a significant amount of gold in various forms (mainly jewels), atm not much into it, maybe in the future :)

Fantastic work, great buy. It really was a sellers market last month with overpriced items.

Yeah, sellers are having a blast so I am only going for good deals! Wish I had more options in my county other than fb deals :(

Haha yeah that sucks. On Australian FB groups precious metals are significantly more than retail sellers. No good deals I have been watching lately though

Nice coins. I didn't see a chicken but something more like a duck. I could be wrong though.

The Dominican coin is a cool pickup, I've never seen one that old! Really nice coins you found there. People have been asking more on silver lately which is kind of annoying!
