Secret Santa , Gift #2

avatar

This is the second treasure that was gifted to me by my #silvergoldstackers secret Santa, a beautiful 1 oz commemorative piece for the 2010 Winter Olympics. Officially known as the XXI Olympic Winter Games or the Vancouver 2010, the event was held from February 12 to 28, 2010 in Vancouver, Canada.

OK, let's see the actual coin

Here we have queen Eli, sexy as ever at the young and pure age of 77. Such a hotie 😍 You may also notice a small logo of the Olympics if you manage to take your eyes from her.

The other side is pretty interesting

According to numista, we have a native American Thunderbird totem surrounded by eleven maple leaves that swirl by the breeze generated by its wings. I asked chatgbt what's the deal with, here's what it had to say!

What's the meaning of the native American Thunderbird for the winter Olympics of 2009?

The Thunderbird is a powerful and important symbol in the culture of many Native American tribes, particularly those in the Pacific Northwest. It is often associated with strength, power, and the elements, particularly thunder and lightning. The Thunderbird was chosen as a symbol for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, which was held in February 2010. The Thunderbird was used to symbolize the power and strength of the athletes competing in the games, as well as the connection to the indigenous cultures of the Pacific Northwest. The Thunderbird was also used to represent the connection between the Olympics and the host city, Vancouver, which is located in the traditional territories of several First Nations. The bird was used as a logo, mascot and in many other ways to represent the games.

Moving on to the edge, there's not much to see

As expected from a 1 oz piece, it dwarves any regular coins out there

All in all, an amazing piece. Thanks secret Santa 😍

It means that another great piece has taken its place in the collection. The design and dimensions look great. A euro is like a baby next to it. 😀

And I remember those Olympic events tickets cost a fortune and many British Colombian's paid extra on our consumption taxes to fund it. I sure didn't get a pair of hockey tickets in my mailbox, just the bill for some MVP getting the free privilege on my dime.

What is this? Adidas in Australia has black box. Tricky marketing campaigns to make their shoes more appealing to Greeks. 🤣
