Returning to the slow carb diet - Part 1
It's been quite a while since I made a life update post :)
The past couple years I have been making some conscious efforts to run a more healthy lifestyle, like upping my activity levels and cutting down alcohol consumption to essentially zero.
However there was still lots of.. fat to go, I'd say about 10-15 kg before the weight I'd like to reach :)
So three weeks ago i started the only diet I have had success long term in the past, the "slow carb" diet by Tim Ferris as popularized in his "5 hour body" book.
The tldr of the diet is that:
- You can eat as much as meat, fish, eggs, legumes, and vegetables like cauliflower your heart desires
- Small dairy amounts
- No carbs allowed other than ones from legumes. Not even fruits.
- 1 glass of alcohol per day, like wine or a strong spirit
- 1 cheat day a week when you are allowed to eat whatever crap you want, as much as you want
So, this is the main playbook, which I am following with some minor adjustments. First, no food during the morning before 12 o clock. Also I am allowing myself one banana (not in the ass) and the juice of half a lemon everyday. And I limit myself to one or two drinks per week, not more.
Results
So far the scale shows me today at about 87.2 kg. As I said, this is my third week and when I started I was at about 90.x. Not bad considering hunger levels are minimal as I don't limit the amount of food I consume.
I think I'll be making a weekly update or maybe a bi-monthly to keep me motivated. Or maybe not, we will see!
Wish fat ol me good luck!
In case you wonder about the slow carb diet just Google it, there's a shit ton of free info about it online.
For some it works like a charm others hate it cause it makes them feel like shit, e.g super low energy levels. Me personally (both the first time years ago and this time) have had no problems even during the first couple, supposedly tough weeks, when the body still adjusts to it.
The book is also pretty good and it's not just about losing weight. I highly recommend it!

If it's working just stick to it, I find the not eating before 12.00 thing pretty effective myself too, give that stomach a rest!
Yeah, not eating early in the morning helps a lot with hunger spells during the whole day!
Good luck. I started keto in January. I put on70 pounds during covid. I’ve lost 45 pounds so far. But the last 25 are going to be tougher.

I lost 60 pounds doing carnivore. May 2022 I was 245 and by 6 months later I lost 60 pounds. It works 💯. Unfortunately after a botched knee augury I couldn’t do my physical workout for months and I got lazy and put half back on. June 1st I’m going back strict and with pool access I can do more without putting weight on my knees. And going back to carnivore diet 🥩
Good luck
From my personal experiance cuting sugar, especialy drinks, both juces and cola likes is the obvious dumb thing that helps by far. Activity is by all means a priority, I have strated to excersise at home and now I'm in the bes shape in my live. 75kg, 180 tall.
Activity wise I am good already, the diet part is where I fail lmao
I lost 65 pounds in 5.5 months In 2022. Went full carnivore. Also worked out daily. Unfortunately after a surgeon fucksd up my knee in 2023 I couldn’t work out for months and I got lazy with diet. Put a lot back on past year. June 1st I’m going strict carnivore again. Still rough working out with my injuries but with pool access this I can do more in the water with weight off my knees as much. Good luck! Once u get though the crappy food withdrawal it does smooth! First weeks it’s like withdrawal, just hang In there! Getting rid of sugar is like getting off a hard drug. Just remember after a few weeks that goes away!
As I write in the post, I always felt good with this diet. My sugar cravings actually go down after just the second day! It just.. gets boring after a while 😂

Good luck. I don't really have any weight problems so I have never tried dieting but I know a few friends who have. I look forward to seeing how much you lose later on.
Lucky you: p

Nice!
I cut out all refined sugar on May 1st as well as most processed carbs (anything with flour). I've eaten more fruit in the last month than in the previous year xD
Also stopped drinking alcohol in January. Feeling way better and lost 2.5kg in the last two weeks 🎉
Anyhow, good luck man, and don't worry, in about 13 years your kids will eat every damn thing in the house so you will lose tons of weight then.
