Narvass
World war I & II movies are a film niche I hugely enjoy. The last one I watched was "All Quiet on the Western Front" on Netflix a couple months ago and that was ...a masterpiece.
I guess I had high expectations from Narvik, which premiered on Netflix a few days ago.
So, this movie is based on the Battle of Narvik and its recapture by the allied forces after it was invaded by the Nazis.
In April, 1940, Narvik, a small town in northern Norway, routinely has 85% of the iron ore used by the Nazi Germany's war machine transported from its port. Attempts to disrupt this process over two months of fierce winter warfare cause Hitler to be handed his first major defeat source
The whole battle for Narvik lasted for about 3 months and involved both naval and land campaigns. Which means there is plenty of material for an epic war movie.
Unfortunately, Narvik isn't this. Don't expect many actual war scenes or epic speeches. There are a few but they are...meh. And those are too watery and family friendly. Gay!
Narvik is mostly a drama focusing on the story of one family. And imo, it doesn't good a good job on that. I didn't feel much connected with the characters and the whole story was meh as well.
At least the cinematography is really good and there are some really nice mountain views 😄
At the end of the day, it's a watchable yet forgettable movie. Which is a pity since Narvik and its story, despite it's importance, is not that much known to the public.
Feel free to skip this one. 5/10

An actual war scene could have made it epic, maybe that'll be above their budget.
Nah I just don't think they were aiming for that!
That's quite surprising
It's been a long time when I watched a war movie... Last one I watched was "Fury" not finished yet.
Oh, this can't be Netflix production... !LOL, since you gave it 5/10 seems like I should skip this. Well, as of now watching Lockwood and Co, series. It is quite interesting, maybe you should give it a watch.

.Oh shit, with all the material they had they blew it 🤦♂️.
Who knows, maybe someone else would read the true story because of this movie and come up with something better. Hitler's first major loss sounds like a cracker...
Yeah, I'd love to see a goid war movie about narwik!
I am a big Netflix fan but much prefer watching series. I find I can't get into the characters during a 90-120 min film, whereas series go on for weeks worth of watching. Vikings Valhalla it is now.
Wish I had the time for that show, but now that I am a family man I only go for movies or mini series :(
I don't know much about war movies, but I really want to know,
is this normal?
Besides this very important question, the review of this movie sounds pretty much like this:
So it is a must-watch!
To be fair, there was zero gayness!
zero? :O
You too as I love World War 2 movies. There have been quite a few duds though and wish someone would do some proper research as there are plenty of brilliant stories that would make great movies. 5/10 sounds like junk but will give it 15 minutes and see.
Good luck, lmao
Thanks for the heads up. I don't watch many movies like this, but it's always good to know which ones to NOT even bother..
Going to watch it for sure, as you have said, there are very less war scenes in the movie and movies revolves around a specific family. We may learn something from the family who may be struggling due to Wars.
Well... at least the trailer is good.
But I suppose most trailers are good, eh? Even the worst movie usually has at least 30 seconds to a minute worth of cool scenes to make a good trailer with.
Dunno maybe it wasn't my cup of tea 😄
that's a pity, would have loved to watch a nice war movie this evening.
😣😣😢
War movied are always nice
