This is an interesting piece from East Germany that I briefly showed you guys like a month ago in one of my usual unboxings.

Let's get it out of the capsule to reduce that annoying glare

As you can see it's a relatively simple yet elegant medal that any commie would love to have. It's got a great portrait of the man, the legend, the Lenin himself on the one side. And the Hammer and sickle, an ol'time classic and favorite among the left on the other.

Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov (22 April [O.S. 10 April] 1870 – 21 January 1924), better known as Vladimir Lenin,[c] was a Russian lawyer, revolutionary, politician, and political theorist. He served as the first and founding head of government of Soviet Russia from 1917 to 1924 and of the Soviet Union from 1922 to 1924. Under his administration, Russia, and later the Soviet Union, became a one-party socialist state governed by the Communist Party. Ideologically a Marxist, his development of the ideology is known as Leninism. source

Some quick specs. Diameter stands at 4 cm with a weight of 22 g, making it a rather large piece.

And apparently it's made of silver. But how much silver? 0.800? 0.999? Silver plated?

Yeah, no fucking idea. I have searched all places I could think of like numista, ebay and other auction sites to no avail. I couldn't even find how many of these pieces have actually been minted.

Maybe I am doing something wrong, don't know. I would love if any of you reading could help me find out more to satisfy my curiosity.

In the meantime, it will stay in my stack. Maybe I'll gift it one day to a leftist friend. Or try to resell it. I got it for 10 euros so I think it won't be hard to get my money back, or maybe even make a small profit 😜

Maybe put it a bundle deal along with the man doing manly stuff coin?

Meh, holding is my second name.

Eventually, it will probably end up in my super secret stash and never see the light of day again. 😂

Now that's an interesting coin! East Germany during the communist rule. Lenin's beliefs were not my cup of tea, kind of nuts in my opinion. There must be a website somewhere that covers these kinds of coins, hard part is finding it. But silver is silver and that's all that counts! Stack on!

Very pretty coin. Both sides represent a good structure and when it was minted?

I sent the picture to a friend of mine who is a world coin specialist. He replied it is part of a commemorative set of medals not coins. He also said that the information listed has it at .485 silver. It’s not a coin, it’s a medal.
Hope this helps

Woah, thanks. Any chances he can tell you from where he pulled that info?

.485 isn't great but at least it's not just silver plated 😂🤑

Lol. I guess it will definitely end up in your super secret stash. What you can't see can't bother you.

It's a very old one but it's so much more beautiful to look at and the way we see that the community here has a lot of old things collected and she shows us here. Sounds a lot better.
