Cliche Sailor

It's been a while since I wrote a movie/show review. And that's cause I haven't seen anything recently, dunno why but I just wasn't in the mood. That, and I hadn't stumbled upon anything to really peak my interest.

Anyways, today I noticed on Netflix a World War II drama mini series called War Sailor. I am always in for a good WW II watch so I succumbed.

Overall, it left a bittersweet taste.

This is a Norwegian production but if it wasn't for the language you would never know. Production wise, it is on par with any high budget Hollywood shit I have seen.

Sets, costumes, effects, acting, pacing, pretty much everything was close to being perfect.

And I even learnt something new, specifically about the importance the Norwegian civilian sailors played in World War II, which is a plus when you watch a movie based on real events.

So why the bittersweet taste?

My main problem is with the story which was just so fucking predictable. I could see where it was essentially going from the first 30 mins.

The whole "best buddies in war, but only one returns and fucks the wife of the other" has been played so many times by now it's just cringe to watch and feels like lazy writing.

But maybe that's just me. Maybe the cliche premise won't be a deal breaker for you.

It would have also been nice if there was a bit more action but War Sailor is a drama so that's totally forgiveable.

Overall, a more then decent watch that you will probably enjoy if you are into WW II stuff.

The sailor Alfred is in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean when World War II breaks out. Suddenly the sailors are in the front of the war, without any weapons. source

Btw, another new WW II show has made a recent debut on Netflix called Transatlantic.

Started good but went full gay (literally) in the first 30 minutes so I stopped it and don't plan to comeback. Maybe I was unfair and the show isn't one of those Netflix turds that force gayness into every second scene. But at this point I have lost enough of my life on Netflix sjw bs. Not risking it again 😂

Netflix shows, if feels like the major prerequisites to get a show into Netflix is to force gay narrative into it.

Yeah, to be fair though they have toned down the gayness a lot lately

I was thinking there's nothing left to watch these Days (haven't seen a Good new release this year so far) that's why you're not making a review...

one returns and fucks the wife of the other

!LOL, sound like The Same story as it was in Brothers (2015)... Maybe writers are too lazy to write something crazy on WWII, we Gotta wait for III.

Started good but went full gay (literally)

😂😂😂 Lmao, who else but Netflix.

I just hate how forceful it often is. In most cases there's even no build up, flirt or whatever. Just gays making out of the blue to appeal to that demographic. If I was gay I would be greatly disappointed

I was in the mood to read a review about a complete turd. I guess I'll make do with half a turd...
