Looks like we have a hot babe from Tasmania!

And here's a photo of the original stamp

s-l400.jpg source

If you take a close look on the stamp you will notice the text Van Diemen's Land, which was the colonial name of the island given by the Brits, before it was officially changed to Tasmania:

Van Diemen's Land was the colonial name of the island of Tasmania used by the British during the European exploration of Australia in the 19th century.

With the passing of the Australian Constitutions Act 1850, Van Diemen's Land was granted responsible self-government with its own elected representative and parliament. On 1 January 1856, the colony of Van Diemen's Land was officially changed to Tasmania. source and further reading

As for the actual lady on the stamp, it's Queen Victoria, which I guess it's expected since they were a British colony.

Victoria: An Empire Under the Sun.
Victoria (Alexandrina Victoria; 24 May 1819 – 22 January 1901) was Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland from 20 June 1837 until her death in 1901. Her reign of 63 years and 216 days, which was longer than any of her predecessors, is known as the Victorian era. source and further reading

Now, here's a fun fact about her. She was not meant to become Queen, as she was actually fifth in line to the throne! But everyone else died due to natural causes and stuff and she ended up inheriting the throne on 20 June 1837 at the age of 18. Talk about luck!

As I have told you, I really don't have much interest in actual stamps but it looks like that Tasmanian stamps from that era are relatively rare, and depending on condition they go anywhere from 20$ to over 1000$ for proof condition! Not bad!

Anyways, here are some more shots I took, enjoy

That's pretty damn cool! I'm not stamp guy either but if it was worth $1,000 I might consider collecting! Queen Victoria was 5th in line? Maybe she snuffed out the other 4... !lol

Australia has a unique history. It was a miss match of colonies that were operating as independent. Once uprising occurred around the world they quickly formed federal agreement in 1901 becoming Australia.

Even more intersting it wasn't until COVID when we all found out that the federal government actually has no power over states. When federation occurred the states refused to hand over power.

Nice stamp and it's a good thing that it is quite rare. It might be worth quite a bit down the line.
