💩 TIL 60% Of People Don't Have...A Toilet! 💩

I just stumbled upon this interesting statistic.. It's one of those things that make you feel "good" with the shit other people have to put up with in their lives. In a literal kind of way.

Turns out that as we speak about 60 percent of the world's population, that's about 4.5 billion people, either have no toilet at home or one that doesn't safely manage human waste. Meanwhile, 900 million people still practice open defecation.

Yeah, I'd expect those numbers to be high..But not that high. It's 2024, we routinely send robots and stuff to Mars and yet the majority of the human population doesn't have access to a proper toilet. 😅

After doing some digging, it seems like Niger is the country with the least access to sanitation services worldwide. In 2022, approximately 65 percent of Nigerien population still defecated in the open. Damn...that's a lot of poop 💩

As for the silver medal, itgoes to Chad with a 63 % percent. There's also Eritrea with a similar number.

I guess the moral of the story is..Count your blessings next time you sit on your porcelain throne? Most people don't have the privilege to do that daily...if ever!

Back in 1998 I traveled all around Europe. We went to a bunch of countries including Greece. Visited Athens, Mykonos and Corfu.

Aside from the ancient buildings and tasty food, I remember being told we could not flush toilet paper in Greek bathrooms and had to use a special bin.

I was not happy. 💩

Have things improved? Or is this just something you Greeks make the tourists do?

Oh! And one of the ferry’s had a squat toilet. I must have a seat! 😂🤣

Obviously you haven't been to Taiwan before! What special bin? It's just a normal one in Taiwan.

I remember when I first went to live in Taiwan, squatting was quite hard work, luckily I do yoga so that helped

😂🤣 The special TP bin. I dunno… in the US we can flush everything. I was traumatized by have the 💩 covered TP just in a bin and not flushed away. 😂🤣

Wow I feel like a king for only to have ever use toilets lol. I also read somewhere that less than 2% of the entire world population there are people net worth over $1million. Its always helpful to get a bigger perspective about things and give faith that we can all be going in the right direction.

I thought more people would have toilets, but I guess not everyone has one. It makes me wonder what they do after doing it out in the open. They got to wipe their ass somewhere.
