πŸ›ΈπŸ›ΈπŸ‘½πŸ‘½ The 3 Body Problem Is On A Promising Start πŸ‘½πŸ‘½πŸ›ΈπŸ›Έ

It's been a while since I wrote a movie/tv show review. It's not that I haven't watched anything all these months, more like my blog has taken a different route lately.

Anyways. 3 Body Problem.

This is a show I was anticipating for a while, as I am huge fun of the scifi genre. Apparently, the show is based on a popular Chinese book trilogy that I have not read and don't plan to do anytime soon. Although I'd like to. But unfortunately no time for that, for at least the next couple years πŸ˜‚

So, today I finished watching the last episode on Netflix. Since I wanted to enjoy it to the max, I decided to go slowly on it instead of binge watching it in one go.

Did I say Netflix? Oh yes, it seems there are two tv shows. One produced from Netflix and a Chinese production!

Ok, let's first start with story. I liked it. A lot. The plot, the pacing, the character building, the science fiction. No complaints here. And assuming the tv show was true to the novel, I feel there was some influence on it by two of my favorite scifi novels. The Forever War and Childhood's End. Influenced in a good kind of way that felt original.

Moving on to the acting, everything is great here too. No big names, but you will see some familiar faces, best known for their roles in game of thrones. Good thing GoT is over for some years now, giving enough time for the brain to disassociate these actors from those roles. But yeah, sometimes I couldn't stop thinking..."Hey, that's the fat virgin geek from GoT" πŸ˜‚

And finally..Let's talk about the bad. The special effects. Yes I know, it's a Netflix production so I don't have Hollywood like expectations. Just good enough to immerse me in the fiction... And for the most part, the effects actually overdeliver! Yet, there is one really really crucial action scene for the plot. And they majorly fucked it from a visual standpoin. It would be ok for a 90s tv show. Maybe? Honestly, it reminded me of the CGI on Babylon 5, a tv show from 1995. Yes, that fucking bad! And it just felt so cringy and took some of the magic away.

All in all, I'll say so far it was a very good scifi and I am willing to forgive, or better forget the occasional shitty cgi. I guess we are getting two more seasons (one for each book) and I can't wait to see where the show and the story goes! For now, it seems quite promising.

I'll give it a solid 8/10. If you are into scifi imo it's a must watch.

I think I'll start the Chinese tv show tomorrow. Hopefully it's even better!

A fateful decision made in 1960s China reverberates in the present, where a group of scientists partner with a detective to confront an existential planetary threat. source

Yes, there's a huge debate on sci-fi forums which one is better... on IMDB is netfix's ranking slightly better than Chinese production... also, Chinese 1st season has 30 episodes, netfix's 8 episodes... I don't know... I read the books but I'll start with netflix, I have the feeling that I can't make it through all 30 episodes, 8 from Netflix will be hard. 😎

This one is next on my list! I'm just finishing up The Gentlemen on Netflix, it's really good so far. I've been wanting to see the 3 body problem for awhile now!

Yesterday, I watched for the first time. It's not bad. I'm on episode 3 now. Lets see what happens…

It looks like an interesting show. I don't have a netflix subscription right now but I will probably binge watch stuff when enough backlog gets built up and I get enough time. I'll add this to my backlog.

I liked it a lot too. Hopefully there will be another season but I heard it didn't have too many viewers so it might be doomed since it's so expensive to make. Either way it definitely made me want to read the books and find out what happens.
