We tested the experience of a vaporetto trip on the Bega canal in Timisoara, Romania
Hello friends from all over the world
In today's post I want to take you for a walk on the Bega river in Timișoara.
I can't believe that I finally managed to do this activity, I have visited Timisoara many times but never before have I actually thought to put on my list of activities a vaporetto ride.
This weekend we had the company of our friends who decided to visit us so having a few hours we decided to visit Timisoara a little but also to take a walk on the Bega river.
These vaporettos are actually a means of public transport in the city of Timisoara, they are operated by the public transport company from Timisoara.
A very interesting thing is that Timisoara is the first city in Romania to implement public transportation, and not just any public transportation, public transportation on water, and this has been happening since 1869.
But wait, this type of public transportation hasn't been in continuous operation since 1869, it also had its share of rather long breaks, at least here in Timisoara the local authorities have shown interest in putting it back into operation, so since 2018 these boats have been operating daily, as I had read that Timisoara has seven such boats.
Timisoara is a city with a fascinating, amazing history, I will definitely come back here and I will write a few lines about what happened here.
But until then Timisoara not only had the first navigable canal in Romania, but this canal was also the first canal built in Romania, it was over 40 kilometers long, it is so interesting to build this canal, it was built both on the territory of Romania and on the territory of the neighboring country, Serbia.
The route of these vaporettos stretches along nine stops, and the journey takes about an hour from the first stop to the last.
The cost of a vaporetto ride costs 1leu/person, this amount converted into euro is just a few cents, I honestly have not met anywhere else such an activity at such a low price, and their trips are regular every hour from the Metropolitan Cathedral station.
To have the whole experience of a trip on the Bega canal from here in Timisoara I took the vaporetto exactly from the last station, namely Mihai Viteazul.
At the top of the boat you can see that it is drawn, and yes, the tops of all seven boats were drawn by artists, each of them with different themes.
Here on busy days you can sit and wait for the vaporetto to arrive.
It seems that a specific activity here on the banks of the Bega is fishing, I saw a lot of fishermen on both sides.
Let's hit the road
So I was ready to immortalize with my cell phone all the places we were passing through, unfortunately I didn't have access outside the boat so I took the pictures through the windows of the boat.
So, after about an hour, we reached the other end of the trail.
My dears, if you've made it this far, you've gone through all of my post today, which has come to an end.
THE END!

Approved this beautiful experience of a vaporetto trip! Cool. But notice that she looked at you from a wall and with her finger on her lips asked you not to reveal all the secrets of the Bega canal in Timisoara. 😄
Nice post!
