Open-air museum of steam locomotives in Reșița, Romania
I have heard many times that in Resita there is a museum of steam locomotives, it really made me curious because I had seen steam locomotives that still work, of course only for agreement, but I have never seen a museum of these locomotives.
Honestly I've never been to Resita before, apart from this museum I didn't know what else to do but visit this city.
How did I get to Resita?
The day before I had visited some amazing places in a neighboring county and when I analyzed the route that my gps showed me I noticed that my route was exactly through Resita, so I immediately decided to go home a little faster so we could make a stop at this museum.
After a few minutes through this city I realized that it is in a continuous modernization, roads, bridges, modern tram stations, I even saw many green areas.
It didn't take very long and we arrived, right after the museum there is a parking lot where you can leave your car.
On the spot we received some useful information that this is an open-air museum and that it is free to visit all year round.
Come with me to discover these steam locomotives in this museum.
I read some information on the information boards here and saw that the museum has two very important locomotives (in terms of age) the first locomotive is called RESICZA-2 and the second Princess Elena.
RESICZA-2 was the first steam locomotive in Europe (S-E) manufactured in Reșița (Romania) in 1872, in this museum it sits like a champion, high up.
Now that we've seen the best known and oldest of the steam locomotives here let's go discover the other 14.
Let's take a look inside these locomotives.
I spent around 30-35 minutes here admiring these heavy iron mastodons that in their time were monsters on the railway tracks.
In conclusion, if somehow you are a steam locomotive enthusiast and of course you are in Romania, more precisely in Resita, I give you an advice to put this place on the map, it is worth it.
THE END!
