Greetings dear travellers from all over the world

Looking at the weather outside I seem to miss the winter holidays, now here in the west of Romania the weather has worsened, it has become cold and rainy, late autumn weather (on one of the last mornings the temperature dropped below freezing).

I remember visiting Bavaria (Germany) last August.

And yes, today I want you to travel with me to a fairytale place, even though I was there in August, its magic swept over me as if I was on the threshold of winter holidays.

I'm sure many of you have heard of the Käthe Wohlfahrt Christmas shop or rather museum.

Now let's explore the inside.

I have to admit that I am a big fan of visiting Christmas fairs, I love to admire the magic of the colours there but also to taste the traditional cuisine.

As for the town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber, it deserves special attention and I will post about it later.

I didn't want to get his presentation wrong so below I leave you some information.

The history of the company began with a music box that the couple Wilhelm (1928-2001) and Käthe Wohlfahrt (1933-2018) brought to Stuttgart from their home in Saxony. This Christmas utensil piqued the interest of an American family friend who visited the Wohlfahrt home for Christmas in 1963.
Wilhelm Wohlfahrt therefore decided to give him a similar music box. He managed to find a dealer, but the dealer only wanted to sell him a set of 10 music boxes because Christmas was already over. Wohlfahrt bought this and gave a copy to the couple who were friends.
On the recommendation of his couple friend, he tried to sell the rest of the music boxes in the American barracks to other officers' families, but was stopped by military police because door-to-door sales were forbidden. Police pointed Wohlfahrt to a charity bazaar where he sold the remaining music boxes.
This prompted Wohlfahrt to start working on their own with these products and offer an ever-expanding range to the weekly markets. Eventually, in 1964, they set up their own company in Herrenberg . They chose the name Käthe Wohlfahrt for the new company because Wilhelm Wohlfahrt was still employed by a computer manufacturer at the time.

Käthe-Wohlfahrt is a German company that sells Christmas decorations and items. Its headquarters are in Rothenburg ob der Tauber in Bavaria. According to Bavaria's tourism website, "the unique Christmas shop with over 30,000 traditional German Christmas decorations ... has attracted millions of tourists from all over the world".
Founded in 1964 in Herrenberg, near Stuttgart, by husband and wife Wilhelm and Käthe Wohlfahrt, it was taken over by their son Harald. The firm moved from Herrenberg to the medieval town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber in 1977.
In their main store in Rothenburg ob der Tauber there is a Christmas museum and a Christmas exhibition. Among the extensive range of products are candles, Christmas tree decorations, nativity scenes and nutcrackers. The shop is open year-round and claims to have the world's largest selection of traditional German Christmas ornaments.
The company has a chain of stores in Nuremberg, Bamberg, Oberammergau, Berlin, Heidelberg and Rüdesheim am Rhein. In addition, there are branches in Riquewihr in France, in Bruges in Belgium, in Barcelona in Spain, in Stonegate in York in the UK and in Stillwater, Minnesota, USA. It also organises stalls in Christmas markets.

You can visit this shop at any time of the year, and here you can buy Christmas gifts or Christmas tree decorations, there is no entrance fee here.
