Dinant (Belgium), discover the city of the man who invented the saxophone

Hello travellers

I'm glad to be here with you again today, moreover I want to share with you one of the experiences I had when I visited Belgium, unfortunately I didn't get to visit everything I wanted to because I got sick all of a sudden, so today we will go together to visit Dinant.

How did we get here?

Being quite far away from Romania we chose to go to Belgium by plane, a cheap way to travel and most importantly it is very fast.

We flew from the capital of Romania, Bucharest to Charleroi airport in Belgium, a short flight with some turbulence but in the end everything went well.

And here we are again for the first time in an airport, here we had a few headaches because we couldn't find a bus going into town, they were all going in other directions.

But with the help of our friend google we discovered 15 minutes walk away a bus stop that took us to the central train station and from there further on we will see the spot.

After a few minutes the bus arrived and cost us 2,60euro/ride.

At the ticket office at the train station we met a very polite lady who helped us with the tickets for the train to Dinant including the other routes we were going to take in the following days.

At first glance public transport in Belgium seems quite expensive, for ten trips I paid 96 euros.

I found it strange to fill in trips on that card, each trip had to be filled in with the day, date, departure and arrival point.

We were lucky that in the gang we had someone who knew how to travel on their own and it was much easier.

Not long after we were on the train to Dinant, the tickets were for class II, even so the train looked very good and the ride from the station to Dinant was perfect, we even had a ticket check (if we didn't have them filled in we would have been fined).

The train station in Dinant didn't impress us, a platform a building nothing special but after taking a few steps outside trying to figure out which direction to go to the accommodation, we saw the natural beauty, stunning architecture of the buildings Dinant is known for.

That's it, I forgot the accommodation and eagerly took to the town.

Wait a minute, why do I see so many saxophones around here?

Walking through the streets of the city among so many beautifully colored buildings we came to cross the bridge over the Meuse river, my goodness how many saxophones here on the bridge, much later we learned that here was born the man who invented them, Adolphe Sax.

I didn't want to miss anything, I wanted to photograph every nook and cranny here because everywhere you looked there was something to photograph.

Crossing the bridge over the river Meuse we found the Cathedral of the Mother of God, as imposing as the other sights here that I will write about in another post.

Let's go inside the Cathedral of Mother of God.

From the outside I didn't realize it was that big, but when I took a few steps inside I noticed huge columns, spectacular architecture and what fascinates me, the stained glass windows.

I don't want to make today's post too long so today's visit to the city of the man who invented the saxophone stops here and I hope in other posts to write about other sights and experiences you can have here in Dinant.

If you liked what you saw and read here please don't forget to give a LiKe, Follow, reBlog or a Comment, for all this I thank you, and until the next post I say goodbye.

P.S. The attached pictures you have just seen are taken by me with my mobile phone(and the combined picture is also made with the phone), and the text is also designed by me.

Yours @triplug😉

Hi @triplug, how fascinating to learn that the man who invented the saxophone lived in Dinant! I'm currently visiting the Netherlands and just like you, want to stop & take photos of every nook & cranny😉
The town looks fascinating, sitting below that mountain! Beautiful church as well, enjoy your travels.

I love to travel (within the free time I have) and yes, I like to visit interesting places (I like to discover the history of places, their architecture, traditions and customs).

That's how I discovered this place that I wanted to visit without thinking too much.

I will write a few more posts from here in Dinant after which I will move to other cities in Belgium, I managed to discover an amazing Belgium and I really want to share my experiences with of you.

Thank you very much for visiting and have a wonderful weekend.
