Adventure continues on the island of Shanzan-Karaburun in Albania, visiting Haxhi Ali cave and militarized area part II
Hello everyone
In the last post I made here in the community I wrote that I would feature this place in two posts because it is so impressive and I have taken so many pictures I still want you to see it at its true beauty and why not some of you may want to schedule a vacation here if you get here.
As I wrote in the first post there I started with the end and that is visiting the port of Vlore and that beautiful restaurant on the seashore, and in today's post we will go together to see the Haxhi Ali cave and a deserted island, I know it sounds interesting, that's what we thought when we were first introduced to this trip.
Today's adventure will start of course with breakfast at the hotel where we were staying, then by personal car we will drive to the port of Vlore, the first step of the post you can find here.
Initially seeing that there are a few boats I thought that we will not be so many tourists on the boat, but standing and waiting in line to pay the tickets and get on the boat we gathered a lot of tourists, at one point you did not know which boat to get on, for us it was simple we had written the name on the boat, Teuta, if you come here I recommend this crew, very friendly staff, if you have questions about the places you visit they can be helpful with information.
Surprisingly, we were told at the beginning of the trip that if we were lucky, we might even see dolphins in their natural environment.
Ready, we started moving out of the harbour to get out to sea, passing some huge ships, I think one was a cruise ship.
It took some time to get to the island area because it is somewhere 30km from the port of Vlore, and surprise, we were lucky enough to see the dolphins, my god they are beautiful, I was so excited that I started filming I got to film them for a few moments but I did not take pictures.
The landscapes with lots of vegetation and those rocks on the seashore enchanted my eyes, it's so beautiful here, I wouldn't leave.
Did you notice the entrance to the bunker?
The first stop of today's trip is at a famous Haxhi Ali cave, I was amazed when I saw that we were going to go inside by boat, I didn't expect it.
As we got closer and closer to the entrance of the cave the bigger the opening, the entrance gate, I couldn't wait to see what it was like inside, the waters around the entrance are a gorgeous blue colour, very slowly so as not to create waves we enter the cave, wow, the inside is even bigger than the entrance, what an amazing creation, how could such a cave form here in the middle of nowhere.
We were not alone here, inside the cave there were already other smaller motor boats, after the crew anchored the boat all those who wanted could take a bath, the water depth there was somewhere around 10 meters, so clear was the water that we could actually see the bottom.
I sat and watched with most of the tourists who were with us on the boat swimming without looking at them, for the simple reason that we do not know how to swim.
We spent about 30 minutes inside the cave, we couldn't stay very long because there were other boats waiting to come in.
We leave behind this beautiful cave and head towards the deserted island, from the information obtained in the past here was a military base, today are still visible buildings in which they carried out their activities and especially the reinforced concrete bunkers (Albania is famous for these bunkers I think it has several thousand).
We anchor in a strange place, as far as I can tell here probably anchored the larger ships, at first glance everything around is only vegetation, when getting off the boat crew members tell us that here we will stay around two hours.
We get ready to start exploring the island, I take a road that leads to the military buildings and my wife heads to the beach (she is a great lover of beaches and sunbathing).
On my way to the top of the hill to those buildings I noticed that from place to place there are warning signs with forbidden photography, I didn't take this into account and I continued my way reaching several anti-atomic bunkers, but at one point two people I think military stopped me and told me that I'm not allowed there, access is forbidden because it is a military objective.
I followed the directions of the two and got off, on the way back I came across a donkey, how did this donkey end up here on the island, hehe.
That was enough and I head to the beach to find my wife, surprise in a group of tourists I meet Jack Sparrow the famous pirate from an equally famous movie.
Standing here I feel like a castaway on a deserted island, all around only vegetation, water of a turquoise color, if the tourists did not make noise there would be a dead silence.
In conclusion we were lucky that we chose this trip to this place, we had the opportunity to see something unique and if any of you will have the opportunity to visit Albania do not forget this place and put it on your bucket list.

Interesting display on Albania. The mountains are also quite beautiful there
Albania is a true experience just waiting to be discovered, if you are willing to step out of your comfort zone you are sure to discover amazing places.
Yes, I think there are also lots of amazing places. But if I want to go there, of course it has to go through quite a long journey
You are absolutely right, it is a very long journey to get to Albania, it is just as long as in my case if I wanted to visit Indonesia, having to change several planes with many hours sitting through the airport for layovers.
But, I have a saying, never say never.
Yes you're welcome. Weve if we visit it is a very long distance. And our hope next time if there is an opportunity so we can visit.
Let's make the most of what life has to offer, hehe.
Hehehe.. yes friend, may I know which country you live in. And my hope is for friends to be able to visit Aceh, we will make friends as our special guests.
I live in western Romania, the distance between Romania and Aceh is over 10400kilometers.
To get to Indonesia would take me a few days, several flights, quite long stopovers.
If you search on the map of Central and Eastern Europe you will definitely find Romania.
Well, there are a lot of tourists from Romania visiting Indonesia, it is not impossible to get there, it just requires a larger amount of money for air tickets, accommodation between stopovers.
Yes, I understand, indeed from Romania to Indonesia, of course, the distance is quite far. but many countries in Europe are rich countries whose inhabitants also have quite a lot of per capita income. well, who knows and my hope is also for friends so that in the future they will have more money so they can visit Aceh Indonesia.😃👍,Or there is a job in Romania so I can work there and we become good friends. Later there.
Yes, and in Romania the monthly earnings are acceptable except that the cost of a holiday in Indonesia is quite high and I would have to work a few months to afford a few days there, hehe.
Heheheeh.. lucky moment for you guys. If we are here sometimes we can't afford to go to neighboring areas because the economy is quite tight.😃
