An unexpected experience
As a mother, I've faced my fair share of parenting challenges, but nothing quite prepared me for the day found out my son, Jamiel, had chickenpox. He and his sister have been at their grandparent's place for over three weeks since they were on summer break, and they have been attending summer class from there.
I had gone to visit my parents when I received a call that morning that my son wanted to talk to me on the phone, after speaking to him and promising him a visit that evening which I did, and it was there we found out he had chicken pox.
I have never experienced this as a parent, and so I took him to the clinic and medicines were prescribed for him and since then, he has been on medication.
That was three days ago and so today I went there again with a lotion that was recommended to use on him and found out that the chicken pox has spread more, according to my mother it was better it came out than for it to remain in the blood, it is said that the chicken pox comes from the blood that is why he had to take the medicine and as well use the lotion on his body
His dad has been quite sad about it. Today when we went to visit and saw that the once very playful boy was indoors and just lying down in a corner, he asked that he and his sister go home with us just for tonight because they still had a week to stay with their grandparents.
Chickenpox is a highly contagious viral infection, and my first instinct was to isolate Jamiel to prevent the spread of the virus to his younger siblings and other family members, but it wasn't possible to so has he wanted to be around people, and we had to leave him be and just be conscious ourselves.
I have also taken a preventive measure on his sister, I started giving her antibiotics as recommended, so it doesn't spread to her too and also my sister has taken precautions too for her kids, I guess that was why I didn't see them today at my parents place.
The Chickenpox brought not only physical challenges but also emotional ones. Jamiel was frustrated and bored, missing out on his usual activities. As a mother, I struggled to find ways to keep his spirits up and reassure him that this difficult phase would pass.
I decided to give him my phone to watch a cartoon so he could keep himself busy and not worry about the itchy feeling he was getting, I cried this morning about not liking what was on his body, I had to encourage him that the phase will pass, and so did my parents, they did their best also to make him happy.
I only hope he recovers fully soon, so he can go about his daily activities. Because it's sad to see him so down and feverish, at times.

Don't worry, it will go. I think it's similar to measles which my sister got years ago. She wasn't allowed to mingle with people as the disease is contagious. My mom gave her many things to cure. It wasn't up to a week before she got cured completely. Jamiel will soon recover and that will be the end. Giving his sister antibiotics is the best because I don't think he would want to be isolated from his sister and other kids.

Chickenpox is terrible, I'm sorry your son is going through that, but you'll see that he will recover soon. I got chickenpox as an adult and it's much worse, I felt sick, tired and didn't want to do anything all the time. It is better that people get it at a young age, to prevent it from getting worse.

This is same thing my parents said too, said it's better as a child than as an adult.
I am sure he will get better soon.

This reminds of me when I had chicken pox in Jss3, boarding house, I wanted to enter the ground as I was isolated in the school clinic. My already ugly face preferred to stay underneath the blanket.
Chicken pox like viral infections will take their course but resolve immediately especially with improved immunity which can be facilitated by good dieting.
He needs more emotional and social support especially for his age. Well-done to the family and to him. Send him our love from Hive 🤗
Your son has such a lovely name. Chicken pox isn't something any kid would like to have but I hope that he heals soon. This way, he could go back to all the fun activities he usually does.
!luv❣️
He is going to be fine soon, I once had chicken pox too, I heard that is a once in a lifetime disease. Trust me your boy is really trying, I know the pains that come along with this sickness. It's because you didn't notice it on time that made it that intense on him. the idea of vaccinating his siblings is very nice because that disease is highly contagious, sometimes when it affects one person, the whole house ends up being infected too.

Thanks I hope he gets better too

He will be fine ma

Oh no, that is very sad. I think this is the first time i'm hearing of a child who is being affected with chicken pox after a very long time, so sorry about the challenge you're going through, i pray for a quick recovery for him.
