Food Sharing #312 - Ocha Room Ashita Itoen @ Shibuya, Tokyo @ Japan

Hi Everyone,

Japan is a land of desserts. Every time we go, I look forward to to try the dessert and cakes stores around the cities. This time we tried a dessert place made with mostly green tea in Shibuya called Ocha Room Ashita Itoen. Itoen is a famous green tea brand in Japan with bottled tea and tea leaves for sale all around Japan. We just walked past while shopping and was glad they had an empty table for us to take a rest for afternoon tea. The staff gave us all a mask case so we can put our fcae masks and can wear it after we eat.

All desserts and drinks can be ordered via the app and if you have any special requirements, you could also add notes on the order but subject to availabllity. Most of the items on the menu is green tea based which was perfect for us as we all love green tea.

Hubby ordered a shaved ice mochi and tea set, I ordered a chestnut cake and matcha set and the kids ordered a mini combo each which can only be added to a big set which was perfect for us. The shave iced mocha tea set was epic. Came with lots of mochi and you can dip them into the different dipping sauces which was delicious. The hojicha hubby paired with the dessert was just perfect though that night he couldn’t sleep early as the mochi was full of strong green tea so I guess the caffeine hit him hard.

My cake set with chestnut was just perfect. I love chestnuts paired with the cake and finishing it off with the matcha, it was just a brilliant combo. The matcha wasn’t very strong or maybe I could take the caffeine as I normally drink green tea on a daily bases.

The kids set was pretty epic for the price we paid (600 yen?). It had a combo of everything and both had a set eat. The boys were shocked we ordered that for them, normally they don’t get to eat so much dessert in one go but as we are on holiday, why not.

The staff here was very quick and courteous. The seating was very comfortable and it was just a great stop for afternoon tea. I would say this is one the top 3 afternoon tea place we have had in Tokyo.
