Ghost Of Tsushima 2 Seems Real Now

Sucker Punch Productions had a number of great titles under their belt right before Ghost of Tsushima, working on games the likes of Sly Cooper and the Infamous series. GoT became their best-selling game, with 8 million units sold so far. Instead of a Sly Cooper revival, they're working hard on a new sequel.

Recently, SPP has given a job listing (Technical Combat Designer, Senior Combat Designer, and Encounter Designer) for people with experiences in large open world maps, stealth gameplay and melee combat. Another for someone whom are familiar with their prior games. These job requirements obviously eliminate the idea that Sly Cooper is in their priorities now. They fit into GoT's game design, there are other reasons to validate this, but I'll get to that later.

If anything, us getting another Ghost of Tsushima game is so warranted right now. There hasn't been any announcements about Assassin's Creed game or something largely open world revolving in feudal historical age recently, so a sequel release set for next year can blow the lid off and be a bestseller outright.

Bigger & Better Game

While I did really like the first game, the second one could improve on areas wanting to be better. Like the odd times the camera would go against you during combat, tediousness of open world activities, and maybe not a really stretched out campaign length.

Tsushima, to me, represents a greater way to play open world games and that is for culturally immersive experiences. I like fighting as a samurai because of how tight the combat is, but with where AAA games are going, and advancements in game tech, I think the sequel will surely top the first game in almost every area.

Sony doesn't exactly have a lot of anticipated games for next year, as most of the ones either talked about or showcased this summer seem to be games that are touted to be released this year. It's a no-brainer to add a sequel to one of their most recent successful games right after TLOU2. We're getting a TLOU1 remake, why not this?

And Sucker Punch has a history of making several games based on their IPs. Releasing 4 Sly Cooper games since 2002, and 3 and half (First Light) Infamous games from 2009. Sucker Punch is known to branch out, creating more stories based in the worlds they create. I mean, otherwise all that research would go to waste.

While yes, Jin Sakai's story is over, mostly, they could take him to a different location or continue Tsushima's story with another character in mind. Tsushima has given hints that it is a very cultural place, with a lot of history to uncover from. I wouldn't mind revisiting Tsushima if it took place during Oda Nobunaga's reign, around 3 centuries later from the first game. Or have Jin come back to fighting what's left of the Mongol Empire.

Seems Like A Sure Thing

This wouldn't be the first time a sequel hint have been reported, back in March this year, a job listing, the same one for Technical Combat Designer was given out. Needing help to expand both gameplay systems, and core abilities over player control. With the requirement that they've played GoT.

There are several forum threads brainstorming ideas for the next game. It seems highly that the next installment is coming up real soon. I hope Sony draws out the curtains real soon, I mean PS5s are selling well, but it's clear you have little exclusives in line for anybody else to buy both system and games, Sony.

I loved every part of the GoT. The tell tale aspect, the story>>>>>. Not to mention, the beautiful sceneries and the combat mechanism. Too good. Haven’t played the director’s cut yet.

Will be keeping my ears out now, if and when the sequel comes out.
