Travel #gardenjournal, Argolis-Greece
Where there is earth, there is home. And #gardenjournal :)
A bit different than what I have done before, but this corner of Hive has revealed so many different places and plants to me, so much magic, that it seemed like a good idea to share with you a corner of the world, probably unknown to many of you. This is the place that we spent the last 1,5 months with @fotostef.
View of part of the city of Nafplio and Bourtzi fortress.
The original plan was to be away for 10 days, short vacation, but making plans is always funny at the end :)
Returning after such long period at the garden (and not only) means that chaos, real chaos, waited for us. But this is not the theme for this post, I am not ready to deal with it yet :)) Cause being away also means that we spent half of the springtime in a very beautiful place and we had the chance to observe and experience a different landscape around. New smells, sounds and images for @fotostef, well-known to me from my childhood since this is the place I grew up.
View of almost the whole city of Nafplio and Palamidi fortress.
Let me start by saying that Argolis, the region where my hometown belongs, is one of the biggest orange producers in Greece. What does this mean in May? The scent of the orange blossoms is all around. I guess it also has to do with memories, but this smell makes me deeply happy!
They are so beautiful and elegant!
The winter was hard (yes, I know I keep telling this, but it was unusually hard, haha!) and many orange trees didn't make it, the blossoming as well has been affected, so it was nice seeing these little fellows coming to life as the days were passing by.
The region combines sea, flat land, but also impressive mountains.
Back to the plants! Plenty of pomegranates and tangerine trees.
Aloe vera!
Countless poppies!
Wild lavender, rock-roses and so many herbs that I didn't take photos of them.
Many people live from agriculture. Especially where the land is flat, more people earn their main income from cultivating almost everything, lettuce and broccoli to potatoes and artichokes (another famous cultivation of the area and fields that are close to the sea).
What a beauty!
The apricots were still green when we got there, but we stayed enough time to taste them too :)
Olive trees of course! Can you recognize this tree as an olive tree with so many flowers on it? It is a great year for the olives! At least till now :)
We were mesmerized by this lonely cutie at the corner of an artichoke field.
@fotostef modeling without knowing :)
The flowers on many trees were covered with something like cotton (Euphyllura olivina is the name of the not so serious disease).
Someone really enjoys getting it all over him. Can you guess who? Not @fotostef!
He looks regretful, but is he? Believe me, nope!
Time to close this post and I couldn't miss prickly pears that are just everywhere around Nafplio!
Oh, and some more flowers!
Time to stop! Oh my, I have so many more photos, haha!
It feels good to be back after a while and sitting in front of my laptop, which I have weirdly missed :) Apologies to everyone for not having replied to their messages or commented to some awesome posts (I was reading them though!).
But hey, where is this place called Argolis? Right here :)
Happy gardening everyone! Open eyes and open hearts, beauty is all around!
If you would like to know more about me this is my introduction post!
Yay you are back! What a beautiful place you are from and that you got to be there in spring was such a treat. I am realizing more and more that where we live is very similar in vegetation. We don't have the poppies though. Those are great! We do have lots of citrus and that smell is wonderful.
Hey Sara!!! Thank you! So nice to be back!
Yes, it is beautiful and you are right, we have so much in common. I have a good friend from California that lives here and she feels like home, haha! That's when I realized the similarities of our places, even though so far away :)
The poppies were amazing! Driving through fields full of them, dreamy!
How nice to see you again. Back with us. I feared you were in a difficult situation and you were in... heaven! What beauty I saw and what a beautiful and musical name: Argolis. Now that you've shown us on the map where your childhood place is and where Crete is, I have an idea. I think you need a boat and a straight line across the sea. I've shown you how bad I am at sailing, haha...
Glad you're ok and I'm glad for the extended vacation. I think you needed it and it was offered. Welcome home!
Thank you for the warm welcome dear @bluemoon!
Glad to be back on Hive after this unexpected break :)
You are absolutely right, I desperately needed this vacation and it was offered in abundance, haha! Couldn't have asked for anything better... heavenly!
Yes, we just need a boat, can't be that hard to make it :)
I am also really glad you are well! I know how much you love being close to the sea, so you also had a rejuvenating trip these days! The place looked awesome!
With pleasure, with joy, and with the hope that it is well at home with you. Certainly lots of work ahead now, I hope you find best practices that don't tire you too much.
Those photos were great. Have a great time on the garden!
Thank you very much for stopping by @nemesia!
yeeeh. That is so good.
Oh yeah, it is :)
Thank you for taking the time to stop by @ismaelrd04!
Those fields are fascinating! Nature never ceases to amaze us, I would love a photo in that field of poppies, I loved it. I can imagine the smell of orange blossoms perfuming the atmosphere, with these you can make an exquisite tea. Thank you for sharing these spectacular photos.
Thank you so much for your beautiful comment @alborhada!
Those poppies really stole our hearts :)
Couldn't agree more!!!
Can you believe that in a place like this, full of orange trees, this tea is not popular??? Amazing, isn't it? I love it!
Oh wow, wow, wow! I mean, you COULD detail all the hard work of home, but this post of Greece and your hometown is simply stunning. I can smell and TASTE the fruits, flowers and plants of this region through your stunning photos. I'm glad you're both well and look forward to seeing what's going on at your place for the next challenge at the start of July!
Thank you so much dear @riverflows!
So glad you enjoyed it, even though there was not even one tiny mushroom in the whole post :))
Hive Garden has honestly offered me so much joy and knowledge and you put so much love in it, that I can't do otherwise but also put all my love :)
Hopefully one of us will prepare a proper #gardejournal on time. For now, it is just weeding, and then some more weeding :)
It IS a proper garden journal. One, my rules are super flexi.. note I call the guidelines... And anything that talks about plants and green spaces is good with me!!!
Haha, yes, I know super flexi @riverflows :)
But still, it has become a kind of addiction to document the progress of the garden work! Not to mention that we even got a selfie today at the garden while I was trying to prolong the break and was looking for excuses, hahaha!
such a beautiful landscape with so many empty land full of greenery. especially love the photo "modelling without knowing"😄
Hahaha, these photos are the best, aren't they?
Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by :)
What an inspirational post! Lovely

Thank you so much for your kind comment @hindavi!
Have a lovely time!
Thank you for so beautifully sharing the area of Argolis, Greece as seen through your eyes and camera lens with us. You made me experience the memories returning from your childhood as you visited Argolis as if I was part of them. The dazzling red fields of poppies were among my favorite photos along with the images of complimentary colored rows of produce growing in the fertile soil.🌱
Looking forward to seeing more of your amazing travels! @traisto
Thank you so much @ninahaskin for your super sweet comment!
I think poppies were the highlight of the post and maybe of the whole trip, haha! They were so impressive.
It always feels good looking at fertile soil, doesn't it?
Thank you for stopping by :)
I hope you had a decent weather, the area looks so beautiful! You took some nice shots ^^ cheers guys!
