Esta película relata la historia de Spirit, un caballo Mustang salvaje que vive en total felicidad, paz y libertad junto a su manada, pero no todo es felicidad cuando aparecen unos soldados americanos, que malintencionados pretenden atrapar a este joven caballo para ser parte de las filas de su ejercito. Spirit queria ser dominado por el coronel, y uso la sucia tactica de dejarlo sin agua ni comida por tres días, y aun ni esto le valió para ganarle a nuestro fuerte caballo, lleno de ira e impotencia el coronel decidió asesinar al caballo, pero su nuevo amigo Indio Americano le salvo la vida en el momento justo y escaparían por primera vez de este campamento!!!

En esta ultima huida, Spirit junto a Lakota sufrieron una fuerte persecución que los llevo a los acantilados y tras un impresionante salto del caballo estos dos amigos pudieron escapar definitivamente de los soldados, el coronel al ver el carácter fuerte y la lucha incesante de este caballo decidió detener su ataque y dejar ser libres a este par de valientes amigos. Lakota y Spirit volvieron a su aldea donde se encontraba la yegua y su tribu esperándolos. Lakota dejo libre a los caballos y juntos volvieron a su libre vida junto a su manada. Sin embargo esta seria una triste despedida y Spirit entendio que no todos los humanos son malos y que contaba con un amigo leal en su vida!!!

El respeto por los animales es un sentimiento intrínseco del ser humano, y todo lo que no sea amor por la naturaleza es inconsciencia. Es importante enseñar a los pequeños, este amor por la vida y no repetir la historia en la que hemos sido destructores y violentos con los animales, somos los humanos los hermanos mayores de todo tipo de vida en el mundo y es nuestro deber protegerlos y respetarlos!!!
