A Walk through the Capitol of Havana, Cuba

This publication was not in today's forecast, but, not always what we think about doing becomes reality. This is one of those occasions because I had to go out to look for some things I needed and, I found myself in one of the iconic places, not only of the capital of Cuba, but, of the whole nation: The Capitol.

It is very difficult for anyone who travels to the capital of the country and arrives or passes by this place not to take a picture and save that moment for posterity. It must be because of the majesty of the work, how emblematic the place is or the symbolism it contains.
For this reason I want to share with you my Wednesday walk that has this place as the main protagonist.

Brief history

This place was built in 1929 and whoever visits it can see its similarity with the capitol of Washington, United States, and this is because the Capitol of Havana was made having as a reference the American capitol or the so-called White House.

Like that place, it was intended to be the seat of the two legislative chambers and that is how it functioned until after 1959 when it became the seat of two important scientific institutions: the Cuban Academy of Sciences and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment.

However, after undergoing a capital repair directed by Dr. Eusebio Leal Spengler, it once again became the seat of the Cuban Parliament or National Assembly of People's Power.

My walk

The popular agitation or the hustle and bustle of the city prevented me from seeing where I was going and, without realizing it, I was in front of the Capitol. As I was walking alone, I had to try to take the pictures myself, through the so-called selfies.

I had to look or wait to get out as alone as possible because, like me, a group of tourists from other parts of the world were taking their photo sessions, to take them as souvenirs. It is worth mentioning that this is one of the most visited places by tourists and one of the favorite destinations for those who visit the island.

A final comment

It was an interesting tour because it allowed me to know some details that I wrote here and others such as the different types of marble with which the place was built, the history of the stolen diamond, the different paintings that adorn the place and many more elements that can serve as a future publication.
