A saving coffee and happy workers
A necessary clarification
our savior coffee
Those who read me must be wondering why these words are coming, if the writer is right in the head. I assure you that what happened to us today in our workplace certifies each of the words written in this publication.
An idea turned into a tradition
When I started working at the Institute of Geology and Paleontology in the area I direct, some people drank coffee, but they usually did it in other places at work and when they were called. Two colleagues in the area approached me with the idea of making our own coffee and looking for the place where to do it, to avoid being bothering in other places and thus creating our own coffee corner titled "El Cafetazo".
the best
That was in November 2017. I tell you that from that moment and to date we have tasted all kinds of coffee and, sometimes we have had to do on more than four occasions because there are colleagues from various areas of our center who come to keep us company. This reminds us of what we used to do a few years ago.
Our coffee schedules
Within the idea of having our own place to make coffee, other ideas were added such as that the contribution of coffee should be collective, it would be a time when it would be forbidden to talk about work issues, it would serve to relax and someone who was not me asked the schedule and a worker proposed that it should be at 8:30 in the morning, before starting our work.
As time went by, the schedule multiplied and the morning was joined by the 2:00 p.m. time after lunch. This has been a tradition that we have maintained against all odds, despite the economic crisis, the Covid 19 pandemic and any other inconvenience you can imagine.
Saving the tradition
a brinis for life
However, this tradition was about to be lost and our coffee maker was sad because yesterday afternoon she could not give us her delicious coffee and threatened that August 3, 2023 would break a tradition of six years in which we have strained the aromatic coffee during all the working days that we have been in the center. On some occasions we have not been able to do it in both schedules of the day, but, in the morning hours this tradition has been maintained.
It turns out that they were selling a package of coffee that at least I had never tasted called "El Morro" and without thinking twice we bought it and, by the way we added the necessary fuel to maintain our tradition.

A final thought
This is the simple story I spoke of at the beginning. Many may still wonder where the greatness of this story lies. My answer would be in the smile and joy of my co-workers because those cups of coffee represent more than tasting a delicious beverage, for us it represents the moment in which we forget about the daily problems of life, it is the driving force behind our daily activities, it has strengthened us as a work team and it has made us a great family.
work family
If the above is not enough, the joy and smile of my people when they knew that the tradition was being maintained and the toast we made for our health and wellbeing is enough for me.
Note: The photos were taken with my Samsung J2 cell phone.
That moments are very necessary in the Cuba of today when almost everything is stress. Hope you can keep the tradition on track.
Thank you very much brother for reading the publication and for your comment. Truly, these are necessary moments and we will try to maintain the tradition, but it is very difficult. Greetings and best regards.
Your story is so interesting, Saving coffee 😍
Thank you very much for reading the post and for your comment and for reading the post. I really appreciate what you express. Happy weekend. Cheers and best regards.
Coffee certainly brings people together, and it's a great way to bond with work colleagues. Lovely story here:)
You are absolutely right. In my particular case there are several things that have happened to me and for not having the photographic evidence I have not been able to narrate them. I really appreciate what you tell me because it is very important to try to keep growing. I have two more stories that I want to tell that are personal and I wish I could find a book about a very beloved singer in Cuba who used coffee in different ways to see if I can share that story. I wish you and your family an excellent week. Cheers and best regards.
Thanks for your lovely comment.
I do hope that you find the book, indeed. That would be awesome.
Have a great day too:)))
