Newbies Initiative Task 3: All locks require keys.
Every building has a door, and those doors are locked, protecting our properties from unauthorized guests and allowing us to protect ourselves from intrusion. We need keys to open these locks, and just as with buildings, we need to secure our online social media accounts from intruders and hackers.
For this reason, we need passwords and other forms of identification to keep our online accounts and personal information safe. Cybersecurity was created to provide protection from internet intruders.
In the realm of cryptocurrency, each wallet is issued what are known as "seed phrases," which are very hard to decipher. A wallet or wallets are connected to each account on the cryptocurrency-based Hive platform, which is a writing platform.
Essence of keys
We have keys on Hive in order to defend against thieves, hackers, and invaders. The loss of these keys is equivalent to the loss of an account since they grant us the ability to carry out particular actions on our hive account.
Our Hive account, in contrast to other social media accounts, has a monetary value associated with it, which is why it requires greater security than other social media accounts.
Sincerely, even though my previous Hive account became useless when I misplaced my keys, I've been lax in maintaining the security of my current account.
Best way to secure your keys
In my opinion, using the power of the cloud (soft copy) and the time-honored method of writing things down is the greatest approach to keeping one's hive keys secure. After all, the main objective is to keep your keys safe from trespassers.
Keeping your keys by taking screenshots is risky since others may easily check your photos and find your screenshots.
Recovery account
I use Ecency for practically all of my operations on Hive, however, I recently learned that the peakd front-end has a recovery account option that is not included in Ecency. I thus made the decision to log in using peakd in order to access the recovery account option.
You must connect to your Hive account using peakd to verify your recovery account. Click on the account actions to get a range of alternatives. Click on Key & Permissions in the list, then choose Recovery Account.
My recovery account is currently with Ecency, and I'm satisfied with it. However, if you think I should make a change, please explain why.
Keys and types
Owner keys, Active keys, Posting keys, and Memo keys are the four types of keys available on Hive.
The Owner key, which is one of the four keys, is the most crucial since it can be used to modify the other keys and is also required when attempting to restore your Hive account.
The active key, in my opinion, is the next crucial key. To carry out any financial-related activity on Hive, such as the transfer of tokens or the delegation of Hive abilities, the active key is required.
The posting key is the third key. The posting key is required for all actions associated with creating a post, such as publishing an article, leaving comments, and upvoting.
The memo key, which is the final key, is used for identification or encryption.
This is so educative and straightforward, the importance of our keys cannot be over stated, they are important and we just have to know that and safe guard them properly.
For your recovery account, I will say it's fine, but I will advise it is someone you can contact immediately to help out, so if you can get to ecency as soon as possible then it's fine and better.
