A day of reflection and preparation
Every day comes with its own unique challenges and responsibilities. No day is unimportant because each one contributes to the progress we make in life and shapes the future. There is a common saying: "Whatever we do today determines what will happen tomorrow." Without the efforts we put in today, tomorrow may not turn out as expected.
Today was quite a relaxed day for me, as I didn’t have much work to do in terms of teaching. This is because the inter-house sports event in our school is drawing closer, and most of the activities now revolve around preparing for it. By this time on Wednesday, we will have completed all the events and activities related to the inter-house sports. It is always an exciting event for both students and staff, and the level of preparation is impressive.
In addition to the preparations for inter-house sports, there is also an important occasion happening tomorrow. One of the senior staff members in my department is retiring, and today was spent getting ready for his retirement celebration. He is someone I deeply admire and respect. He is known for his hard work, dedication, and integrity. Over the years, I have learned a lot from him, not just about the job but also about life in general. He is someone who is always calm under pressure and knows how to handle any situation with wisdom and care.
It’s not just me who feels this way. Everyone in the department has a lot of good things to say about him. He has always been reliable and supportive, and his presence will be greatly missed. He requested a low-key retirement celebration, so we kept it simple but meaningful. We decorated one of the offices to make it special for him. He didn’t want anything extravagant because he preferred to leave quietly and without much fuss.
The preparations for his retirement made me reflect on the kind of legacy one leaves behind at work. It is clear that he has made a positive impact on everyone he has worked with, and this is something I truly admire about him. As his junior colleague, I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to work closely with him and learn from his wealth of experience.
After the day’s work, I decided to take some time to appreciate the beauty of nature around me. It was a simple but refreshing experience. I took a picture of the moon, which was shining beautifully in the evening sky. There’s something calming about looking at the moon—it feels like a reminder of the beauty in simplicity.
I also took some photos of the field that have been prepared for inter-house sports. The tracks have been carefully marked, and everything looks set for the big day. Seeing the field ready for the event gave me a sense of anticipation and excitement for what’s to come. It’s always interesting to see how the students bring so much energy and enthusiasm to events like
