History

Hello, history lovers... On the 10th of November, my country celebrated Heroes' Day. Of course we know why there is a phalwan? Because our country is a former colony and the patriotic people who died while defending the country's independence are our heroes. May you all rest in peace.

* Is history important?

In the period of understanding history, I remember an important female figure who once flicked us all with her sentence "We all learn history, but never learn from history ’ (by R.A Kartini-hero of emancipation-)
I think this quote from R.A Kartini will be enough to answer my question below, that the idea of understanding history is very important, especially for us, the former colonised countries. If there are some countries that are not taken seriously in the curriculum, in my personal opinion, it is not good.

Then on point two,

* Do we really need to know about the mistakes or achievements of those before us?

Yes, we need to know. Why is that? Still referring to Kartini's statement which implicitly emphasises how important it is to know history and learn to understand how to prevent history from repeating itself. Although knowing the mistakes of the colonisers, for example, is not for revenge for colonising, because for this era it clearly does not make sense. But what do we need to know the mistakes of history for? Yes, so that we dare to move forward and not be careless, so that we individually or as part of citizens realise how important it is to be careful with the patterns of colonisation that occurred in the past. In what way? One way is by becoming smarter. Becoming a smarter country so that we are not easily targeted for colonisation.

However, I have a different point here. The colonisation that is meant for the current era, of course, is not the colonisation of countries between countries like in the past, another thing that we can implement is learning so that we are not colonised by ignorance.
Isn't this very important?

This is the last part,

* Do you feel the school boards should take history classes more seriously for our future's sake?

Absolutely yess!

I once imagined a utopian school system like that of my favourite author, Leila S. Chudori. In a private school system that prioritises critical thinking, Leila also created an unusual extracurricular, the HISTORICAL RECORDERS!

What is their function while in the curriculum set by the government there is no related extracurricular matter? Yep ... Putra Nusa High School's presents a history keeper that aims to keep history from dying. You must understand, in history there are many events related to humanity that are sometimes deliberately erased by certain individuals for personal interests (?) if you know what I mean.

Therefore, it is the students who are members of this group of HISTORICAL RECORDERS who re-open, find facts and re-examine history to find truths that are sometimes deliberately suppressed.

Isn't that important? Things about humanity must be upheld, and as in the text of the 1945 basic law formulated by a group in that era, one of them is ‘That freedom is the right of all nations, and therefore, colonialism in the world must be abolished because it does not have humanity and justice’.
So, anyway, for me, history is very important for our present and future.
Thank you for reading my prompt for this edition. Greetings history!

It is absolutely true that history repeats itself. If an event has happened in the past, then there is a high possibility that the event may happen in the future. For example, if an epidemic happens in the past, it can also happen in the future because an epidemic may occur. It is very important to know about the pastbecause it tells us how to deal with any kind of problems that may occur in the future.

Totally agree, That's why we are required to read, study, and review history. I'm very excited about this theme.
