Hello, Asean... Still about my solo trip. This time I'm going to talk about food that is recommended as souvenirs. Actually, I didn't intend to buy any souvenirs to bring back to Jakarta, however, my friend Zaza brought me food that can be taken home and has a shelf life of up to one week.

Usually, when talking about Semarang, the food that immediately comes to mind is Semarang spring rolls, soft bone milkfish, or tofu petis. However, as more cultures enter the city and people's interests continue to change, businesses are constantly innovating to stay in the food business. Therefore, in addition to souvenirs in the form of typical food, there are also foods from other cultural mixtures, such as what Zaza bought for me.

Kueh Moaci Gemini is a mochi cake shop called Gemini. Surely most of you already know what mochi is? Moochi was originally a traditional Japanese snack made from sticky rice flour. But, then, in Indonesia, especially in Garut, it is also famous for its speciality mochi.

Back to Moaci Gemini, although there are so many variants, Zaza recommends that I try the original flavoured mochi. According to him, of all the variants, the original flavour is the most delicious.

Out of curiosity, I immediately opened the bright red packaging, the contents of one box that Zaza bought for me were 16 pcs.

There are three sizes, namely: 5, 10, and the largest is 16 pcs. After taking one, I knew why KUeh Moaci Gemini is Semarang's speciality snack, not only because the price is not too expensive, but also because the mochi cake is very tasty. The outer shell made of glutinous rice flour is nice and chewy, not hard at all. As for the filling, you can see roasted peanuts that are grown then processed with coconut sugar and rounded into mochi filling.

The taste of the peanut filling is not only sweet, but also savoury and slightly salty. So overall, the flavour was just right. I like the variant recommended by my friend. Indeed, when it comes to food and snacks, Zaza is the best friend who understands a lot about it.
